Modern Buddy

If I were to purchase a used Stella that needs a little love, would I be able to throw it in the back of a Honda Element to get it home??


I don't trust it to make it 200 miles in its current condition...

From what I can see in the pics from the Honda website, it might fit slightly leaning over.

it will fit, but just barely.

You need to push the seat all the way forward, take the mirrors off, and mabe angle it a bit.

I've seen pics of Elements with 2 P-series bikes in the back.. but they had to remove the cowls!

It'll probably be too tall to ride upright. You could remove the side cowls and lay it on its size, but this is a tricky compromise.

Your best bet would probably be to rent a small trailer or small truck from Uhaul or Budget Truck, or even just a pickup from Avis. If your Pilot has a towing package, it could tow a small utility trailer with that Stella on it no problem.

I'm picking up a Buddy 50 on Saturday, and the dealer says they tried to get a Buddy into a Honda Element and it just wasn't do-able.

So I'm riding home from the dealer, about 11 mi.

I can go and measure mine if that will help?

Here are rough measurements, on the stand.

6' long front to back
29" wide (handlebars)
45" high no mirrors
55" high with mirrors

I got a Vespa P in the back of a Volvo 240 wagon. Built a wooden "arm" to hold it up halfway. If you can't get it into the back of an Element, there's something wrong. Get a couple of 1x4s and build a support to go under one of the handlebars (wrap it in a towel so no scratching happens).

if the seats are removable, there should be no problem i would think... Youll just need a ramp to get it up in there.. Or lots of strong people I managed to fit my buddy into where the middle row of seats were in our ford windstar, and i was shocked when it fit in there. The honda element is a huge box seems like it would be pretty easy

My original plan was to drive up there in the Element and pickup the scooter. Maybe I'll print out the photo just to document that it can be done, and if it rains I'll pickup instead of riding home.

Dude apparently said that it had to go in through the side door instead of the back one...

I have a Honda Element and have put my Buddy in the back no problem several times. We took out the back seats rather than folding them up on the sides. It also works better to put it through the side door than the back because it is closer to the ground and has better height clearance. We did take the mirrors off though. The hooks in the back on the sides and the floor are perfect for strapping it in place. I'm not sure the exact size comparison between the Buddy and the Stella but the Buddy still has room when it's back there so, I'm pretty confident it will work.
