Do your lower front turn signals flash...blur 220i owners?
I just had my Blur 220i delivered last night! Let the customizing begin! One thing I am going to do is remove those ugly orange turn signals that are under the handlebars on the new Blur 220. One thing I noticed is that the "original" front turn signals do not work. I am assuming they cut the wire on the USA model bikes and ran the wire up the handlebars to those ugly orange round signals? Can anyone who owns a 220i confirm that these signals do not operate. I just want to make sure that this is the case before I Re-route the wiring.

one of the first things i did was remove that ugly fender.
there used to be an old forum post around the buddy side here on how to configure the "dead lights" that didn't work. you could set them up as runners, or you could set them up to blink. since the 150's work, and we don't have the gaudy training wheel lights, we didn't have to worry about it. do a search, it's out there.

The workshop manual (in the FAQ and the "new member" thread) has the wiring diagrams, I imagine if you just follow the 150 diagram, you'll be set. In fact, I'd be surprised if the wiring diagram in the 220 owner's manual has been modified to show the new signals.

Chances are that they added the new DOT eye stalk lights on in the same manor that they added them to the Buddy. If that's the case, then they have a 2 lead connector that's connected to the stock signals that's not connected and a matching connector that goes to the DOT lights. It should just be a matter of tracking down the DOT light leads and switching them over to the stockers.
Glad to head you're back Dave. You set the bar pretty high with your 150 Blur, I can't wait to see what you end up doing with your 220i!.

Lostmycage, thanks for the compliment. Only cosmetic mods on this one.....well maybe a couple items down the road, however I really think that once the engine gets broken in this has all the power & speed I will ever need on the freeway.
Since it was too hot to ride during the day (100+) I did some cosmetic mods. By the time I finished it was dark outside, so I'll have to upload some pics & DIY's this weekend. To answer the previous question, if you take off the "hood" panel, you can tug on the ugly orange turn signal pod wires and feel where they are connected. You can then trace them and disconnect them, remove them, and reach down in the bottom area for the "stock" fornt turn signal wires. Then just clip the connectors off the orange turn signals that you won't need anymore and splice them to the other end of the "stock turn signal wires, connect and go!
1st day's work:
Removed the reflectors from the front forks, took all the orange lenses out of the front & rear turn signals, removed the rear fender, took out the orange led's from the headlight & replaced them with white ones, installed a 10,000k HID headlight, softer grips (Pro Grip), removed the factory license plate bracket, installed aftermarket license plate bracket under the tail section. Installed Koso mirrors, chrome engine fan cover.
I was going to install the Stebel horn, but I was happily suprised to see that Genuine really upgraded the horn on this bike. The horn was about the same size as the Stebel and is just as loud, so no reason to install an aftermarket horn on this model.
Next weekend I plan on doing to following:
Custom seat cover, Blue LED "street glow lights" under the body, 2 way pager alarm with remote engine start, replace the storage compartment bulb with a brighter LED bulb, magnetic oil drain plug, silver turn signal bulbs, LED brake light bulb, hardwire battery tender, and paint the oil dipstick chrome. After all that, no more mods for quite a while.
I will upload pics this weekend and if anyone needs help with DIY's, just let me know.
Dave

I can't see why it wold be a problem
I don't see why there would be a problem with inspection with only the "original" factory turn signals. My previous Blur 150 didn't have the orange eggs hanging from the handlebars, so I can't imagine why you would have a problem.

Ha, nice! You didn't waste any time, did you? Did you by chance keep any of that custom stuff you had on your 150? Those floor board covers were pretty nice.

Unfortunately I did not. When I sold my old Blur everything came with it. I did however already make a new set of floorboards for the new Blur already. They are exactly the same as the old ones. I really like them. I will post up a diy this weekend when I have time to download the pics I took while I was making them.

I removed those ulgy blinkers from my 2011 220 .. just remove the black top cover on the front and look for a blue and white connectors dangling.. trace the wires from the ulgy blinkers and you will see that there the same color plug and fitment . just do a switch-a-roo and your done
