Dumb Question: Oil light

Post by illnoise »

I bought my (replacement) Blur150 with the digital speedo upgrade, so the previous owner had just changed the oil and I knew that the mileage wasn't right. So now the "Engine Oil" light has been on for a while, but by my math it's actually time to change the oil, so I'm gonna do it this weekend.

So what makes the light turn off? And when it does go off, is it set to light up at 3000km intervals (or whatever) from when it was reset, or based on the indicated mileage and the set service intervals?

Thanks

B.

I think you hold the left button for three seconds and then the right one for three seconds. The interval for mine is around 1800 miles I believe.

And when you reset it it will begin measuring 1800 miles (3k kilometers) again from when you reset it. I'll look at my manual tonight to make sure that's the right order for hitting the SET buttons.

oh, if it's in the manual, i'll find it, thanks, figured it was a service secret.

Thanks for the tips!

UPDATE: oh, strike that, I have a Blur 150 manual for the old speedo, duh! That explains why I never saw that info. SO yeah, if you get a chance, I'd appreciate it, but I can probably figure it out through trial and error.

This is a Tech Bulletin Via Genuine.

Just a reminder about the Genuine Blur 220i Oil Light. This light is for maintenance
purposes, it will come on every 1875 miles (3000 km) indicating the oil change is due.
This light will need to be reset through the Speedo cluster. The procedure is in the
owner’s manual on page 12. Please be sure to pass this info onto your service writers and
technicians. Below you will find a document with the resetting procedure.
Sincerely,
The Genuine Scooter Company

Manual says to hold the "Select" button for three seconds, then depress the "Reset" button for three seconds. Should go off after that. :)

And yes, that light coming on gives me a heart attack every time it comes on, even if I know that I'm close. Poor design.

same here! the first time I saw it I was on my way to work. I didn't know any better and thought something was wrong, turned around to go home and took the car. Not realizing until later that day it was just a reminder indicator.

The problem is that the embarrassing manual doesn't mention the difference between an oil change distance indication light and the oil pressure loss indication light (if there is any - does it blink when there is no oil pressure?). Also, one can't re-set the lamp when one changes the oil, but must wait until it comes on to reset the light. Diabolical

Oil Service Intervals on Blur/G-Max 200

Post by Edward »

Hi Guys! What is the oil service interval on a 200 Blur/Gmax? I've been changing oil at 1000km (625 miles) and oil filter at 5000km (3125 miles). Is this correct?

It got me today! Out with some friends having a blast on the Blur. Pulling into a friends to help change a P200 front shock and the light went on. Old school thinking I saw the oil light and figured no pressure!

I found this thread and went back out. The odo had just turned 4,500 miles. I did the reset and all is good! Thought this thread deserved a bump.

Thanks DCUNITED for posting the reset info!

I assume you have the digital cluster we are discussing here? If so the light will illuminate every 1875 miles(or 3K KM's). This is the interval. I am going to do my filter every 2 oil changes as I think 2K miles is a bit short for replacement.
