Spark Plug wire boot

Post by omniphil »

I have had a few occasions where the scooter was very hard to start, and sometimes will die coming to a stop. (and starts very hard afterwards)

When I changed my spark plug I noticed the spark plug wire wasn't on very good, just sort of wobbling there. I changed my plug and pushed the plug boot on securely. It died the other day leaving the driveway and it wouldn't start again. I reached under the right side and noticed it was loose again. It's close enough that it will run most of the time as i'm sure the spark is jumping the gap, but its certainly not on there all the way and snug like it should be. I am assuming its just vibrating loose. And I would also assume that if the spark is jumping the gap that's the spark coming to the plug isn't as strong as intended.

Anyone else run into this? I am thinking I may take some pliers and crimp the boot end a little so it stay on the plug tighter...
