Hello Fellow Blur riders,

I'm in Chicago and have ridden my Blur through all four seasons. Since June of 2011 i have not driven a car to work. My coldest day this year was Tuesday Jan 22, 2013, it was ZERO degrees, with out windchill. I'm expecting it will get colder.

Two body parts that got a little cold were finger tips and toes.

Question: 1) Has anyone installed or recommend heated grips?
2) Can you recommend hand shields for grips?

Heated gear is on the agenda.

Can the Blur's electrical system handle the load of heated grips/gear?

Agreed- the hand grips are the biggest issue- too bad there isn't a factory option for deflectors. I just ordered heated gloves(lithium battery powered) which I think will be adequate for my needs. Wish there was a heated grip option as well.

But the company I ordered from sent me the wrong item and when I returned it now says the gloves are out of stock... They are still my goal. have to try another seller...

I bought Oxford Light Heated grips.....from Ebay.....
They only draw 3 amps, according to the manufacturer......

I'd be interested in these as well on my Blur 150. Did you have any issues installing them? Will they fit properly on the Blur without any major modifications? They cllaim they'll fit most scooters.

I use the Oxford Hot hands on my winter scoots (Reflex and Aprilia) and they are fine. These are the grip-strip attached ones, so you just leave the wires in place (from battery to switch, and from switch to near the grips) and remove the actual elements in the summer (and disconnect the battery connections). I used a bent coat hanger wire to drag the wires up from the battery on those scoots.

On the Blur (which uses full replacement grips, one of which has infuriatingly stopped working), I pulled the lower left body work and that made it easier to get the wires down from the battery and up the inside of the leg shield where I mounted the switch. I ran the wires up (through one of those spiral wire protectors) to the head set and ran the wires out to the grips. I put a stress relief zip tie on the throttle side. I had the power tapped from the headlight, but later decided that I wanted the circuit separate from the scoot, so switched it to pure battery power. And yes, always on the Battery Tender (shared between three scoots), when not riding.

I ride three bikes so it made sense to go with heated glove liners rather than heated grips. Very happy with the Firstgear liners. Don't have any other heated gear but a heated vest might be a nice investment next winter.
