Some interesting info while getiing all BBK with a 2012 RH50

So decided to go BBK, pipe, tranny and carb with one of our RH50's. After beating around the web for days trying to source info I came up with a ton of disputed info. Even called Scooterworks and they too were wrong.

Starting at the intake/carb. Most everyone suggests a 17.5mm carb in the forums. Don't really want to go with a pod type filter as I want to keep it stock looking. Called a bunch of distributors including Scooterworks and asked what size the stock carb is on a 2012 Roughhouse. All of them said it was 13mm.....ding ding.....wrong!!

Pulled the carb and measured it. It is 16.5mm at it's smallest dimension. COOL I thought!! No sense in spending dollars on a carb/AF pod/cable for one measly mm. Especially since it will be only a street/mild port setup.

Now on to the intake manifold. Measured the intake and it is a whopping 23.35mm at it's smallest dimension. VERY COOL I thought. Absolutely nothing to do up front!!....

Going over all of the posts here on MB there seems to be quite a variance of sizes related to the Buddy/RH 50's. Especially posts from Rattler 110cc folks who state their intakes are at only 19-20mm stock.

So from this I conclude the Genuine is supplying High Performance parts on their 2T 50's lately as stock. This confirms why we smoked a China 2T 50cc the other evening....I mean it wasn't even close.....

Anyone feel that bumping the carb from a 16.5mm to a 17.5mm is even worth it? And...on the other end how about this Stage 6 exhaust for a mild/streeter?

Those measurements were I.D.? Maybe something new for the 2012's like you said. One of the other things that helps these scoots is a slightly longer stroke from the crank.

Yes BigBro these are all ID measurements. There is a blip on the Genuine literature where they speak of improved performance this year. Maybe this is why? I'll snag some pictures and post them later on today.

Initailly I thought maybe they are using excess 110cc parts on the 50's while they wind down 2T production. Just to get rid of them. The P/N on the intake manifold only contains the first several numbers and doesn't include the last four that would denote the difference between the 110 and the 50...

cool. i wasn't questioning just checking. seams like these machines are a flipping mystery sometimes. millimeters here and there make them different from any other 2t out there. sometimes i wish the motor was just a straight rip off of the bws or zuma. that way when genuine or pgo finally let this model go by the wayside, parts will be as close as a yamaha dealer. no such luck.
