another question...lowering seat height

Post by twilley »

Just one more question:

Has anyone out there lowered the seat height of their Rattler? I'm 5'0 and can manage on one, but lowering the height at all would make things more comfortable. Yet another variable to consider in deciding what to purchase

I've been told you can lower the shocks--anybody done this, and how did it affect handling? Has anybody taken anything off of their seat cushion?

Thanks

Don't mess with the shocks unless you have experience with that sort of thing. Just take the seat-cover off and use your bread knife to shave off some foam. Then stretch and staple the cover back on. It's easy and people with dirtbikes do it all the time.

You'll need to buy another shock if you want to lower it that way.

People have talked about raising the handlebars.....there are some extenders out there. It may be alot easier and get the same affect.

I think the OP's feet won't touch the ground, raising the bar won't make there legs longer.

no, my feet touch, it would just make it so I don't have to stretch at stop signs--I think the shaving off foam route is the way to go. Thanks for the input!!

Doh...Didn't think before I posted. For some reason I thought it was the same as my problem.

i think there have been a couple of people on this forum that have done this mod. sounded pretty easy. something like : pull staples and use a sharpie to draw a path to follow with a knife. cut an amount smaller than you think to start. you can always cut more. put cover back on with new staples and cut the excess. i typed this without looking in the tech forum. maybe check there first.

...and the best thing to use to shape foam is an electric knife.
