Roughhouse 50 Mod

Post by Pd278219 »

Read through these forums a few times. Looking for any mod for a 2015 roughhouse 50 that's actually tried and true. I'm also not looking to void the warranty. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Anything for a little extra speed at the top end.

You could change roller weights, but 50(by the speedometer) is all it's going to do in stock form. It's a 50cc, it can only make so much power and spin so fast.

I rode a 2013 R50 for a couple of hundred miles. It was brand new. Even before it was broken in, I was pleased with the top speed. It did 45 fairly effortlessly. I didn't like the acceleration or how it climbed hills. I sold it before I did anything to speed it up. The NCY golden variator gets pretty good reviews, and it is a steal at $30. I would install this variator with Dr. Pulley sliders. I'd go a gram or so lighter than stock. There is talk on this forum about swapping out the clutch springs to something with higher rpms. If you use the search option, you'll find everything you're looking to know. Most of what applies to the Buddy 50 also applies to your Roughhouse.
