Roughhouse gas cap was inserted all the way with the arrows misaligned. Now it is good and stuck. I was able to find one thread where owner was able to remove by realigning with an oil filter wrench, then cap came out normally. However, a YT video mentions the subject and warns that it means a new gas tank. Has anyone else overcome this situation?

Have you tried just twisting the cap to get it back in alignment? Or inserting the key and holding the cap in place so the latch mechanism can properly retract?

Yes. Will not rotate by hand even with key turned. Concerned about tank filler neck damage if forced.
