Law for mopeds sucks
Just found out that it is illegal to park your moped at a bike rack unless it posted for mopeds.
The police is ticketing you if you park downtown, which don’t make sense because park is so expensive.

Street parking? Chain to a tree/lightpole? Not from around there, so I'm not sure of the laws, but what about regular parking options?

Not much street parking I am not sure if you park on the sidewalk in the downtown area to much pedestrian traffic. The laws was pretty lax before but in the past two years it became stricter. This year the police will ticket you if you don’t have a registration or safety check. Lots of mopeds with mods for sale for cheap

Is this new? I’ve been there 3 times over past 2 years, as recently as this past September. Chaining to sign posts on sidewalk has always been OK. I just sold my motorcycle and put deposit in moped so I hope it hasn’t changed much!

It should be alright, downtown certain areas parking is limited just be careful if you park to a bike rack you will get a ticket.outside of town parking to a bike rack might be okay. Aloha

the laws have changed.
I used to rent out scooter in Waikiki.
locking up at bike rack was fine one time registration and no safety check.
but that was in the late 90's.
I do recall having an issue with registration on my Zuma but that got worked out.

I still lock up at the bike rack.':?'

I Live on the big island near Hilo. Actually about 10-12 miles from the volcano breakouts. In Hawaii, does the Roughhouse meet the qualifications for a moped??

Thanks for any comments.

Aloha

Yes a roughhouse is considered an moped.
You can buy a new or used roughhouse from Hawaiian styles rentals.
Check out their website.

How is yours holding up for you? Wouldn't mind buying one, but then I'd have to have it loaded onto a barge for Hilo.

Mine is all good , no problems, lots of people ask about my RH. Resale value is good. Top speed is 45-50 mph on flats stock. I was going to get a Honda Ruckus or Yamaha Zuma but you need a motorcycle license.

Just got this reply:

Jon,

Sorry your email went into my spam folder for some reason and I just found it. Yes we ship to Big Island. We ship freight collect so you just pay the fees on your end. I think to BI it is about $80.00.

Yes I currently have all colors of Roughhouse and Roughhouse Sports in stock.

Thank you,

Dustin Winkle
