Hi all. Sadly my 2014Roughhouse 50 was stolen from the front of my apartment building in Lincoln Park on Wednesday morning at 2:37 am. We have video of someone being dropped off via another scooter or smaller cycle. Hopping on my scooter and starting it then riding away. No idea HOW he had a key as I have both copies. If anyone is riding and sees it please help me out.
Lic # C96119
Matte black
Tinted signals
No genuine or roughhouse badges.
White California outline decal on the right side rear. (Probably removes) but it was put on 5 years ago so there will be discoloration.
This thing means a lot to me so it would make my year getting this back in really any condition. I would rather pay to get this re done than buy a new one. Picture attached.

Has anyone ever had theirs recovered?

I'm in Chicago, and I'll definitely keep an eye out. It's possible that they screwdriver-ed the ignition. Pass along the VIN, if you have it, to Scooterworks Chicago, in case they ever go there looking for parts (happens more often than you'd think). The folks at the dealership there are great at keeping an eye out for stolen bikes, and you might get lucky.

I have messages out to scooterworks where I got it from and multiple other shops around the city to keep an eye out. As well have reported it to the CPD so we’ll see how much luck I have left.

Just crossing my fingers it was a joy ride and they will dump it when they’re done and the police pick it up somewhere.

Baffles me that someone can start it so easily. Knowing you have to turn the key, squeeze a brake, the. Push a button for it to turn on. The guy did it all in under 4 seconds. The video clip I have shows arrival and departure in less than 10 seconds.

Yikes.....it shouldn't be possible, if the ignition is working correctly. With the key out, you should have no spark and no power to the starter button. Even kick starting it shouldn't be able to fire it up without a key in the lock, or a messy hotwire.

Yeah makes me wonder how they could even do it.

I have a new exhaust, big bore kit, super trans and air intake filter that sticks out. It has a blue clear cover over the red filter but it’s a loud unique sound that doesn’t sound like a typical roughhouse.

If anyone sees it let me know or just call the police.

A minute with a screw driver and I can hotwire a roughhouse without cutting any wires. You just have to unplug the ignition switch and the kickstart will work.

I can’t upload the video but the person sits and drives away in less than 5 seconds. It had to have been a key the speed they were able to start it and roll away that quick.

I get that you can probably shove a screwdriver in the key hole and start it but for it to work the first time that quick is absurd to think it was something like that.

Has anyone every had theirs stolen and recovered? Or should I cancel the insurance and call it a day?
