New paint on my 85 Honda CH150

Post by BigBenlor »

Just before the end of the good weather (in Colorado) last year I bought a 2nd 1985 Honda CH150 (my first was the 84 Honda CH125D, but it was stolen) When I got the 85 it had some dents, dings, and a few broken parts, so while I wasn't riding it due to snow I went to town repairing broken pieces and cracks, a new paint color, and a new trunk on the back with working tail lights. I changed the front grill entirely. I'd say it came out very nice. here are the before and after pics. There are still a few more things I'd like to do to it (cosmeticaly) and I know its not a buddy, but you guys are like family anyway.

Nice! I'm interested to know what paint you used and how it holds up after some use. :?:

The paint I used

Post by BigBenlor »

Hey, here is the paint I used. Got it from Home Depot, cheap for the coverage, I think it was $3.70 per can. I did 2 coats of primer (2 cans) 2 coats of grey, then came back with the blue and black details, then 2 good coats of clear coat for shine and protection. I've gotten about 200 miles on it since the paint, and it still looks great. I'll keep putting miles on and let you know how it holds up. all together like $35 in paint. Dont forget to sand is my only tip. I didn't sand for the blue highlights and ended up re-doing parts because the clear coat shrunk the paint and gave me "spider cracks"
