My 2008 Buddy 125

Post by averacpa »

Just went through a major maintenance overhaul that included:

Engine/Gear Oil change
Air Filter
Plug
Zippy Tires
Bando CDI & Coil
YSS White Rear Shock
Dr. Pulley Variator and 11g Sliders
1500 rpm Clutch spring
CheekySeat Custom Cover - faux grainy leather - very well done by them!!!
Painted the rims with a two-tone effect (grey the original paint) and added chromed valves

The scooter now rides smoother, a bit quicker to getting to 45-55 mph and sticks to the road and handles a lot better.

The other accessories were done when I first bought the scooter:

Case
Windshield
Front Rack
100 LED rear brake flasher
Made the dead lights into added turn signals
Upgraded the turn signal bulbs
Chrome trim around the edges - from auto parts store

The 100 led brake lights rapidly flashes when applied for added safety. Quite bright and noticeable.

The scooter has performed very well, although it only has around 2300 miles. The only part that actually went bad was the battery after 3 years in Florida which is the expected lifespan

The biggest surprise in terms of comfort was the seat cover by CheekySeats and the YSS shock. The cover was custom made using fabric I provided (wanted a grainy faux black leather look instead of the smooth leather offered by them). The fit and finish was perfect, secures very well, feels soooo much better when riding in shorts. The YSS shock has soften the ride a lot, although a bit springy. It is set at position 2. I assume the springiness could be eliminated by adjusted it to level 4 or 5.

I will probably change the exhaust to black NCY (not looking for more power and I don't like the all stainless steel look), NYC front shocks and big brake at a later date.

Update: added the NCY exhaust (make sure you order the corresponding gasket as the Buddy gasket does not fit), a bit loud and sharper sound than expected especially when you open the throttle. May help in being seen/heard. Not sure if I like the sound, will see after a few rides.
