Stella ride video with redneck camera mount

Post by ScootLemont »

So it was nice out today & I was bored
It's a little shaky - I need to refine my redneck camera mount & then go ride some more interesting roads - this was just a test
& try to frame it with a little less of my ass in the shot

By the way... I would love to see some more videos from the rest of the MB people -
As exhibited by my "mount" you don't need an expensive GoPro setup.

Maybe we should have a video scavenger hunt or game of video scooter tag...

You guys are right, no need for GoPro if you don't want one!

And no, no duct tape, but cable ties are a close second in universal functionality!

I love seeing these glimpses into others' rides. Nice neighborhood for scooting, ScootLemont.

Neat idea for a setup. :) Maybe if you moved it forward 4-6" so that it was braced down against the seat cushion it would vibrate less? That would also shift your butt a little farther to camera right. :)

Thanks for sharing the idea!!! :+!:

I think you have the start of a reality show. What the heck, if the Duck Commander boys can make multi-millions, you should be able to work on your southern accent and make a few bucks.

I do like the perspective of your camera mount (minus your ass of course :D ).

I did purchase a new GoPro awhile back, but, as usual, when it comes to taking pics or videos, I haven't done much with it yet.

I actually tried this out myself yesterday, out of sheer boredom - used a collapsed camera tripod and some bungee cords, though, instead of a piece of wood and some zip ties. :D Took a quick spin around my apartment complex's parking lot, and the video came out pretty well!

Nice job
That's what I'm gonna do this weekend - charge up my camera's batteries, strap on the Scootercam, and go for a ride - maybe with a couple people from my local riding club. I just wanted to make sure the thing wasn't gonna fly off on me once I started riding, haha.

Haha, that was the problem with my ride-recording - while I was waiting for my Buddy to warm up, there was a nice gratuitous shot of my butt for a minute and a half that I ended up editing out of the final version. XD

FYI yes, GoPros are expensive and not user friendly. However, Contour Cameras have recently shut their doors and best buy has all of their cameras and accessories on closeout. I've been using a Contour Roam for the past few months and it's a great camera, I just picked up $100 worth of mounts from Best Buy for $20. They had some cameras over %50 off. It's worth a look if you want to find a good action cam. Their prices online don't reflect the closeout, so you'd have to call or go to a store to find out. Also if you're looking for an awesome versatile mount for your current camera check out these, sturdy as hell and you can mount to just about anything. http://www.amazon.com/UltraClamp-Assemb ... Sorry..... changed dominant servers since then and don't seem to still have the pIc.

It was a camera on a gripster tripod cable tied to a 2x2 that was then cable tied across my rack so it stuck out to the side about a foot or so.
