We all know how airbags can save your life in a cage but now you can have some of that same protection in a motorcycle jacket. Check these out at http://www.impactjackets.com

Has anyone ever tried one of these?

Eh. When I fart that happens to my pants.

I don't like the lanyard system. I'll guarantee you'll keep forgetting you're attached. Everytime you get off the bike you'll look like the Michelin Man.

When it's inflated, won't you just keep bouncing and rolling down the road like a ball? I'm not sure I'd want to turn a 30 foot slide into a 200 foot roll.

I just watched the demo video. I wonder if it would even deploy fast enough to even do anything for the initial impact...

Neat jacket though.. But I think I'll stick with a few pairs of 'swimmies' instead.

Check out the video in the news section of the guy that survived a crash while wearing one. The system deploys in half a second and requires a certain amount of force to be activated so you won't deploy it simply by getting off the bike while still attached. Looks like motorcycle police from a couple of cities are starting to use them.

Still a concept, but helps in a roll.

This looks pretty cool. I would have to imagine it would help save a few broken ribs, etc. I might have to consider one of these. Anybody seen a review of one? I am interested in the fit, comfort, etc.

Here's the airbag on the Honda Goldwing. Is it just me or does it look like a giant butt. I mean it's even flesh colored. Somewhere in Japan there are a couple of engineers getting a good laugh over this.

I think a airbag on the bike is just silly, in a bad crash, you're not going to be on your bike, you'll be thrown off, or fall off and roll around or worse, having the airbag activate while you're 5- feet away doesnt help. The bag being in the jacket is a much smarter idea.

I think it's silly too. The fact that it looks like an ass is even funnier.

the last thing you want is first responders coming to the scene trying to assist and focus on you when they are really just seeing that huge a$$

Is that what I think it is?

I'm sure it does work, if you're in a crash where you say rear end someone because you skid into their rear bumper, you might not fall off and may slam your body against the bike, that would hurt and you could break some ribs or bones. The airbag on the goldwing does have it's purpose, but a "Universal" impact airbag seems to be still more effective.

If this was a BuBu... then I'd go with "BuBu GOT BACK!"
I wanted a scooter; ended up buying a motorcycle instead.
