what's in a name?

I ordered my Buddy a couple days ago. It's blue, so I think I'll name her Robin since the color is a "robin's egg blue." It just seems a little unoriginal though. What do you guys think?

I named my buddy Irene, one night I was locking her up and had the Tom Waits song in my head. She doesn't seem to mind.

I'm having a really hard time naming my Stella. I mean, she already has a great name! But I feel like I owe her something more personal than just Stella since well, she's got a personality beyond that.

The Buddy's seem to have so much more possibilities for naming, and you guys have some great names for yours! So hopefully something will come to me for my Stella soon.

I named my Saint-Tropez Zéphyrine. It's French, and it means "a gentle breeze" or "breeze from the west". I call her Zeffy for short.

Mine is called 'Om', as in http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Om, because that's the sound she makes as I accelerate out of a corner. Came to me one crisp spring morning as I rode to work in meditative silence. My purring path to enlightenment.

I have also been tossing around names for My St Tropez. I was thinking about Azura. It means Sky Blue. Not totally sold on it yet.

I am going to name my bud, a St Tropez, The Blue Raja. If anyone has seen Mystery Men with Ben Stiller it'll make sense. I'm was going to shorten it. But I'm not sold on it. Any suggestions????

She will be either Imogene or something equally splendid. My Kia Sportage is named Sophy, so I'm trying to keep the family names from the same country...

I'm still trying to decide... the name Bamboo keeps coming up in my head.

I read somewhere that bamboo is India's "green gold". And since Stella was made in india and she's avocado (or bamboo) green.

Usually when I am naming something or a dog or cat, once I get a name stuck in my head, I end up using it.

And I am ready for a name to stick. Anyone think I am crazy? Wait, don't answer that :D

Just got a sea foam green Buddy 50. The only color left. It's not easy being green. So I named her Kermit. Seriously, though, I love her!

Haha, I have a seafoam green 50, too! I love the colour--I was also contemplating the pepto-bismol pink, but the white upholstry in a dusty town like Boise would not have been easy to maintain.

I think the green is beautiful, though--but then, I'm a fan of more retro style choices.

I was deciding between the names Dexter and Ronnie. By popular choice, I guess it's Ronnie, although we've been referring to it as "the Buddy" more often than not.

while looking through all these posts, i had to call my husband and get his input. we decided on lil' harry. the reason being that i named my first car harry (after my grandpa. . . weird, i know) and had a super cute license plate. i'm getting a shortened version of the license plate for my buddy, so i'm naming him lil' harry. i love it!
. . . now all i need is for lil' harry to show up. hopefully next week (crossing fingers)

"The Bug" keeps popping into my head
along with the song that goes "sometimes you're the windshield, sometimes you're the bug..."
But I'm not sure about the conotations..it'd be kinda like naming a scooter "Roadkill"...

I've been trying to find alternatives
It'll be taking me into and out of town for pick up and delivery of smallish items and groceries and such...so I was thinking maybe "The Curr" shortened for "courier"; "Dee" shortened for 'delivery'..or DV; or even "BB" short for 'beetle bug' or 'buddy bug' (but not 'buggy buddy'..which would be another roadkillish name  ...notice a pattern yet??)

Hey mo, I just got a cool metal Hulk "puzzle" thing... It's basically a big keychain with one of those brain-teaser-type rings on it. It's pretty hard core and was like 3 bucks or something. I'll try to get a pic so you know what I'm talking about. The reason I bring it up is cuz I was gonna put it on my Bud's rear fender, but then I also have a transformers autobots logo, so I can't very well do both now can I? Man, not only would I be transmitting the nerd vibes full-force, but also the "indecisive mess" vibes... I guess I'll have to save Hulk for something else. Anyways, they had 'em @ Wal-mart so if you're interested, they look pretty cool. Also available: Wolverine, Silver Surfer, Venom, Spider Man, and that sand guy (why would anyone pick him over all the other cool ones?). Holy crap, I can't believe I just wrote all that. sorry.

Man, you guys must not have had a little brother who never missed an episode of the Dukes of Hazzard. I always think of Rosco P. Coltrane, "10-4, little fat buddy!" and he was always in hot pursuit. Of course the "buddy" he was referring to was Boss Hogg, which would be kinda funny. But then I think it's funny to wear my Harley jacket on my Buddy. His dog's name was Flash....

I have the Pamplona, and so far it's been "the little tomato" or "mi poco tomate." The huge tomato fight held every year is called "La Tomatina" but it's not in Pamplona. I also considered "el toro" or the matador (you know, the running of the bulls and all.) Scarlet? The Hot Tamale?

For a pink, how about the ultimate diva, Marilyn?

While I first thought Imogene a splendid moniker...I have since thought of others:

Yellow Submarine (in honor of my favorite boy band)
Flower
Sunny
Daisy

I know, I know...there's a theme here...given that she will soon be solid yellow as opposedto her original Italia green, I'm keeping in tone with her happiness...

Happiness.

I have found her name!

She will be known as Happiness. Happy for short.

Bunny's Happiness.

Life is good.

I just got my Buddy Italia and because I figured that all of the go-to names for a green scooter were already taken, I decided to name it Eva (but pronounced Ava). My rationale is that riding my Buddy makes me feel like a badass... kind of like James Bond... whose love interest in Casino Royale is actually named Eva... Green. Eva Green.

*sigh* So pretty.

Even without having to stretch the rationale, the name Eva really seems to suit my Buddy. She and I make a stellar team.

The cries of sadness never heard
Fall deaf upon my ears
The stench of madness, raging wars
I've seen a million years
The smell of sorrow fills the fields
And lingers in the sky
The littered ground will swallow down
The souls that fill my eyes

I hope this won't be offensive to anyone, remember people have different tastes.

I have the sunset orange and brown Buddy. I think it is a really ugly color combination. But, I know that the Buddys are well made and thus have a good heart.

So, I have named my Buddy Charlie Brown. I put a pumpkin face on the front of him and say that he is masquerading as The Great Pumpkin.

Of course Chuck is currently undergoing major surgery in a friend's garage and they are searching for a new part after only 2k miles (my chi scoot lasted nearly 4k miles!).

Cheers,

finally decided on mine the other day . . . i'm naming her Tsubaki, after a character in one of my favorite anime, Soul Eater . . .

Image

she's the character in the back. basically, in this anime there are meisters and weapons who work in a pair. her meister is Black Star - my dj name is black Sunshine - so i figure it fits! i won't officially name her till i get my black panels though. at which point i will break a bottle of champagne across the front and christen her proper (ok maybe not a good idea) . . .

 That is a perfect name for my HD Road King. Always have (Mo-to-bye) the bike was the cheapest thing, it all the rest that is putting me in the poor house. What is the Taiwanese word for "always" link that with Motobi and that will be my scoots new name. Thank you and if you don't mind I will now christen my scoot with that name.

After much internal debate, I've finally decided on a name for my scooter.
The debate had boiled down to 2 possibilities: Imbri (Xanth nightmare horse) and My Little Kelpie (twisted variant of my little pony). I was heavily leaning towards Kelpie, but the water aspect was making me a little nervous.

Then the proper name hit me like a skillet upside the head, and so:
Scooter, I call thee Púca.

Yes, the old Irish faerie nightmare horse.

Be careful in naming your ride. I figure naming the ride is like naming cats. If you name it after a hellion like Mungojerry you end up getting the behavior you expect from the name.

Love hearing all the names. I was told that our Scooter should be named after a female, but after sitting with it for a couple days----I thought our Scooter was a male.

He's named Totti ---- for Francesco Totti, AS Roma's Capitano!
And my not-so-secret-crush........
