Scooter Skirts
Somebody has to start this discussion this year.
No, it's not for me. My daugther, who has stolen my Buddy from me, rides in the mornings to school. She's complaining about how cold her legs are (typical girl ).
Now that some of you had some experiences with them, which ones fit you and your Buddy well. Do they really keep you that warm and dry?

The scenery only changes for the lead scooterist.

I had the Corazzo Lap Apron and just sold it to an MB member. It worked really well (mostly for wind but also it's pretty great for rain) but I just don't need it that much down here in FL obviously.
It really didn't flap up at all even at close to top Buddy speed. I didn't ever have to use the velcro fasteners. It's a very heavy duty material with nice fleece on the inside. The reflective stripes are a huge bonus too.
I'd highly recommend it.

My wife won a Corazzo lap apron (AKA Scooter Kilt - i love it! haha!) and we both gave it a try.
Seemed to work out pretty good. doesn't flap around, or interfere with your feet/legs at all.
I just sort of wish it were something that attached to the scooter, rather than something you wear.

I just bought a scooterskirt (kilt) for here in Oregon. It's not cold enough to use it regularly (although it may soon be wet enough). Personally, I think it is GREAT. I test rode it right after I got it to see if I felt I had to add the velcro. No need, I concluded. It doesn't flap really. Just a hint at about 40 mph. It is very warm, easy to take on and off, and doesn't interfere at all with my feet or legs at stops. My significant other was very skeptical of how it would look (silly, was her early prediction) but she gave it a two thumbs up when she saw it on me on the scoot. I'm not quite sure how the sizing works -- I bought mine through the dealer, who recommended a small. The small seems just right. I'm about 5' 5" and the small hits me length wise just right. I assume (but don't know for sure) that sizing has more to do with height than girth. The girth has enough adjustment that I think it would fit anyone, from the smallest to largest. It stores easily under the seat. For my purposes, although I could wear tights under my jeans, or my insulated ski pants, I wanted the convenience of being warm on the scoot, but not having to take off overpants or have more clothes on (with the tights) once I was off the scoot. I expect to use it a lot and like it even more.
All in all, for me, a great product. I think it might be perfect for your daughter.

Does anybody have a copy of the one GirlBike did? She lost a lot of stuff during a server transfer & does not have it anymore.

I'm one of the people with a home made scooter apron. Works fantastic, I rode to work this morning in fairly heavy Oregon rain, and I was toasty and dry.
And they double as much easier to gear up with than several layers of clothing.

I was actually looking for this the other day and couldn't find it. It might be up somewhere on ModernVespa (Crystal posts there occasionally). I bet the pics were linked off her site and went down with the rest.kilted texan wrote:Does anybody have a copy of the one GirlBike did? I have the Tucano Urbano for the Vespa. The advantage there is the apron attaches to the scooter and deflects radiator heat onto your legs. Of course, the Buddy can't do that, but I like that it stays with the scooter. For you DIY types, you could design one that would use the large front screw to hold it in place.
The bib portion has a velcro strap that fits around your neck but comes off at the slightest tug.
Mine is black. Here's the link.

I just ordered a pair of wrap chaps from here. http://www.kneenecks.com/ web site is a little clunky, but it they look pretty good, I wear dress pants and am hoping this will be a quick solution of something I can put over them, take on and off easily and store in the pet carrier. They were recomend by some one on one of the scooter forums I was reading.

Sorry, very long story. Most people were saying it is about $200 by the time you import it. There was a guy on Modern Vespa who said he could get them for $100 so I ordered. Got it in a short time. Many months later he wrote asking for another $20. It would still be worth it, but I forgot to send it to him. Anyway, my point wasn't to have people buy from Italy, but to get some other ideas for their home made ones.kilted texan wrote:Slow, did you order it from the UK? I have the Corazzo lap apron. Anything over 55 and it is too warm! It has been as low as freezing and I have been fine. The main thing I like it is easy to get on and off, unlike ski pants. It is very water resistant too, more so than the jacket even. Although as I may have mentioned in other threads, I feel like a bit of a corporate tool. I am a closet hippy, a thrift store shopper, and wearing the corozzo jacket AND the apron...well I feel like a bit of a d- bag. But a warm one at least.

I'm the same way, but the underhoody has convinced me that corazzo is good stuff.peabody99 wrote:^lol.I thought genuine had the market on that line of ....
In my book, wearing not just one, but 2 pieces of logo wear is ridiculous, but I guess it says something about the product if I am able to suck it up and do it.
I just need to sell my car so I can get a lap apron and new jacket from them.

ScooterSkirts is a one-man show; it's nice to support an individual entrepreneur. I have a scooterskirt and really like it. The 3M piping screams in the dark (or so I've been told); it's very easy to get on/get off; it doesn't flap in the wind; it's excellent quality; rain rolls right off. And it's warm! I've worn it below freezing and been quite toasty with just dress pants on. I also got mine super-cheap on eBay so there's a bias there.Eazy wrote:I have, they're $35 more than the Corazzo.
I say Corazzo definitely wins.

Ahh, I didn't see the part where he was thinking of selling them, so I won't step on his toes. I figured if he *WASN'T* going to, I'd fill the voidericalm wrote:Trying to compete with Lostmycage?Kaos wrote:If people were really interested, I might be able to work up some scooter aprons for MBers....
