Buddy Fest 09?
Yeah, this about a ride/event, but I felt it made more sense here. So eric do what ya gotta do.
Now back to our regularly scheduled program.
Buddy Fest? Anyone?
An east coast Modern buddy meet-up/rally/ride?
All modbud members and fam/friends. All scoots welcome.
Nothing complicated. Just an open invitation to all of us to be in one area to meet, ride, share stories, and a meal and/or a beverage(s).
I can offer up Nashville as a location. IMHO its buddy capital. Great scoot shops, one of the best, East Side Scoots. Decent mostly dry weather. Decent roads, plenty of attractions/parks/food/bars/ and most importantly rides.
An official unofficial event. Over one weekend.
Wanna do sum thin dis spring? Fall? Budtoberfest has a ring to it.
So when do want do come see ur boy, LEEEEEEEROY JENKINS!

Sounds like a good time to me ... sign me up. I've been to Nashville a few times, it's a nice city and a good time. If it's spring, I may still only have the 125, so I'll trailer it down there. If it's the fall, I definitely should have something larger by then, so I'll likely do what I'm guessing would be a 10 to 12 hour trip by scoot.

If Portland and Seattle are on the left (west) coast, how in hell do ya get Nashville as being on the "east coast"????Kaos wrote:I think it would be nice to do the same on the left coast for people out this way. Portland? Seattle? There's quite a few MB members in each.
Make it in NY, NJ, DE, MY or VA, and I'm there... (Maybe!)

There's been some chatter about doing something in CA, but I don't know if I can pull it together for this summer. So much going on this year, including Amerivespa in San Jose in July. I'm hoping for a big left coast ModernBuddy gathering there.Kaos wrote:I think it would be nice to do the same on the left coast for people out this way. Portland? Seattle? we should just steal buddy riders away for a day during amerivespa, I know that we (Vespa Club of SC) are planning a few rides and events over here in Santa Cruz, it's only 45min-1hr off fwy scoot from saratoga/ los gatos where most of the stuff will be happening.
Looking for ppl to ride with in LA.

How about Buddyfests all over the country for the same weekend?
I suppose I should be upset, even feel violated, but I'm not. No, in fact, I think this is a friendly message, like "Hey, wanna play?" and yes I want to play. I really really do.

It's a decent haul from Cleveland but I'd be into it. We have a ton of Buddys up here as well.

June is a good month for me, late July is the best though In any case, no school and I can get a couple weeks off work at least!
I would really like to see a Portland or Seattle Buddyfest. I have friends up that way and if I had time after the fest I could continue to Vancouver and Alaska...
But I've never been to Nashville and it could be a nice trip!

lol looking at the route we'd have to change our oil when we got there and change it again after we got back.Becktastic wrote:June is a good month for me, late July is the best though In any case, no school and I can get a couple weeks off work at least!

I'm serious ... divide it up into 3-5 state regions and get it on. The biggest Buddy party ever.

How about Albequerque or Santa Fe for the not so left coast? That could pull people from AZ, NM, CO, UT and west TX. Portland is a long way from Tucson. Remember, states are BIG out here in the west.

If people don't like Vegas, maybe San Diego?
Is there some way to figure out where the most MB members are concentrated?
I don't care that much where it is, I'm up for a drive

How about Yuma? I know it's hot, but because of snowbirds, they have a lot of campgrounds and infrastructure, and such and because all the snowbirds are gone, they would probably love to have us. It's close to San Diego, LA and Phoenix.
Just a thought.

I can't stand yuma...but as I said earlier, I would probably be driving to a further meetup for the fun of it, so it's up to you other SW folks to chime inHowardr wrote:How about Yuma? Vegas? Now I might have to try to make two of these fests ... Nashville and Vegas. Seriously, if you have a get together in Vegas make sure you ride up through the Red Rock Canyon. I was just in Vegas a few weeks ago, rented a bike and made that trip ... it was very nice.Becktastic wrote:If people don't like Vegas, maybe San Diego?
And if you want to go just a little further, St. George, Utah is about 2 hours north. Very scenic right before you get into town and Zion National Park is right there as well.

I kind of liked your "Budtoberfest has a ring to it" idea. And the fall would be a scenic ride if we hit the changing leaves at the right time.Leeroy Jenkins wrote:Cool, I think we have a quorum for an Nashville Buddy fest.
Now a date?
First weekend in june?
I'll try to talk to East Side Scoots for some planning input.
But I'm open to just about anything in regards to timing. With a month or two notice, I can make just about anything work ... so I'm good with whatever you decide.

Memorial day will have a HUGE increase in traffic though. Might not make for the most fun of rides.BigColdMartini wrote:Sounds good to me, shouldn't be too hot yet in early June. Only problem with that is....(looking up Memorial Day 2009)...there seems to be no problem. Memorial Day 2009 in on May 25th, 2 weekends before the "Budtoberfest in June"Leeroy Jenkins wrote:Now a date?

For all of those interested in starting up "Budtoberfest in June" in their area is to find a hotel for out of towners that will offer a discount off their normal rate & will accommodate cars/trucks with trailers. For Nashville I would have to haul it from Fort Worth on 10 hours drive. Be sure to find a place that you would feel safe enough to leave your car & trailer there too.
If someone had a "farm" (ie. land) you could do it Woodstock-esk or "Scamping". Obviously that land owner would have the people staying sing a waiver saying "you are staying at your own risk & are not held responsible for your stupidity".

As far as the SW goes, I'm down for CO or NM. Can't imagine taking the Buddy over the Rockies, which means I'd have to go around them to get to Vegas which means a looooong trip. I think, anyway. Anyone know of a good route west that doesn't involve crossing the Rockies? I think there's a handful of MBers in Colorado who'd have the same problem. Taking the Buddy up a hill is one thing, but over the mountains is another.
