Scooter Photo Scavenger Hunt: Rock-n-Roll

Post by KRUSTYburger »

Hey guys, ScootLemont let me do the the topic this month and I forgot to post it this morning cuz I've been busy grilling out so I can stuff my face during the SUPERBOWL!!!

Anyways, the topic will run the entire month of February since its still cold and a lot of people aren't able to ride. I think its a pretty easy one and lots of chances for bonus points!!!

1
point for your scoot at a music store

+2 if you are in the pic too

+2 for headphones

+1 for having a CD in the pic

+2 for a vinyl record

+2 for a cassette tape

+5 for an 8-track

+5 for a boom box, mp3 player, cd player or record player (not 5 points each)

+5 if you're wearing a band/musician t-shirt

+10 if you're at a concert (you have to be able to tell its a concert)

+5 if you're visibly dancing in the picture

+5 if you're singing into a microphone

+5 for each instrument in the pic (real or phony, limit 3 instruments)

+5 if you have KISS makeup on!!!

Image...
And an additional 10 points for wearing a leotard! yes, seriously...

Party on doods.

Oh, I am in on this one for sure.

Is the pic at the music store part required or can I set the whole thing up in my backyard?

KISS was the first band I was a fan of that my parents didn't also listen to. I was probably 7 or 8. My friends and I would draw KISS comics and trace the album covers and color them. And I even saw "KISS Meets the Phantom of the Park" in the theater. I don't know why this didn't freak my parents out… This was before heavy metal was blamed for all conceivable social ills.

I SUPPOSE you could do it in your backyard... the whole idea was that it would be embarrassing to do it in public.

Really you can do it, but your coolness level will be much lower than someone who had the guts to to wear a leotard
in front of a store. Really, the hunt is based off the music store and the other stuff is just bonus... Am I contradicting myself yet?

So the *OFFICIAL* answer is:

Yes, you can do it in the seclusion of your yard if that is your only option, and you get -10 points. How's that, fair enough?

Yeah, I meant to include that. I have one too, but it's part of a big speaker cabinet with a record player in it. I don't think I could fit it in my car, let alone carry it on the Buddy. It weighs like 200 lbs!

Here's an off the wall question... Is 40 points considered to be a lot of points in this specific situation? ( I'm a T-Shirt change and a 3 mile scooter ride away from a 40 pointer...10 points for wearing a leotard! woah! Cha-ching! you're making his way to easy.) :P

I wanted to get this out before people start posting their pics. I was thinking about this at work today and there are a heck of a lot of instruments, so I'm limiting the instrument count to 3. That's 5 points for each instrument with a maximum of 15 points for 3 instruments. Also, this should go without saying, instruments in the music shop window do not count.

You have all month! Do it to it!

Ah, so for music store you do not mean a store selling CDs or records (you know—records!), but a shop that sells instruments, right?

Wish I had a keytar.

As is, I may need to use the car to haul all my stuff for this one! Might just take that backyard penalty.

I will not, however, be trying to get the leotard points. You should all thank me for sparing you that sight. ;)

I thought that was about the "+5 for each instrument in the pic".
Although...I guess "music store" could go either way.

My last comment was regarding the instrument prop bonus. No more than 15 points total for instruments.
All I was saying was the props in your pics should be yours, not the shop's.
____________________________________________________________________________________

To Eric: It can be an instrument store or a record/cd store. "Music store" is pretty generic.

Sorry, I'm not used to doing hunt topics! I didn't think it through... let me know if anything else needs clarifying.

I dont see any problem with this or any "individual" hunt have big point totals possible - during the summer & fall... we ran one hunt a week & the points added up from week to week - these are "stand alone" hunts & the points dont carry over to the next hunt so its not an issue.

 leoTARD not leoPARD! Maybe the term I should have used was unitard? I'm not totally hip on the lingo,
I was referring to something like this (basically tights for your whole body):

edit: if you can get an entire leopard in the shot, I'll see what I can do for bonus points...

It's been raining a lot here and when it hasn't I've been sequestered in my office, working on finding more work for the most part. I hope to participate in this one, though!

Also, for me to get major points by taking a shot in front of a store will require a second person with a car. Guess I'll do it in my backyard!

[kool-aid voice] OH YEAH!!!! ...Number one.

1 point for your scoot at a music store

+2 since I am in the pic too

+2 for headphones

+1 for having a CD in the pic

+2 for a cassette tape

+5 for an 8-track (Chipmunks 8) )

+5 for the mp3 player

+5 if you're wearing a musician t-shirt (Bob)

+5 if you're dancing... it looks like a lame air guitar, but I'm doing the robot

+5 for each instrument in the pic (bongos, harmonica, plastic flute thing)

+1 for first pic, that's 34 points folks!

Image
This music store USED TO have a cool light-up guitar design across the whole building,
but I guess the hurricane destroyed it... obviously I haven't been there in a couple years.

Sikken's Epic Kiss Tribute Garage Band Failure

-10 not at a music store (closest one is 45 miles)
+2 if you are in the pic too
+2 for headphones
+1 for having a CD in the pic (Gwen Stefani on the drumset)
+5 for mp3 player (in hand)
+5 if you're wearing a band t-shirt (Jimmy Eat World)
+5 if you're visibly dancing in the picture
+5 if you're singing into a microphone
+5 for each instrument (real guitar, fake guitar, fake drums)
+0 for epic failure of attempting to have KISS makeup on (shaving cream does NOT work well)

I also tried to get the 10 points for the leotard by wearing all spandex but wasn't sure if that would fly. Let me know if I can get the points... Enjoy the pics! :D

Total points w/o tard: 30

You should get some extra credit points just for maintaining your balance on that heel in pic #2. :)

I want to clarify my "dumb rule" comment. I enjoy the game and enjoy the points as a reward for what we are able to add to the picture. I think deducting points is crazy for things that are really impossible for some people. If you can do it, cool, you get the points. If you can't do it, you get no points.

You want to encourage people to play this game? Here's food for thought ...

I took the following picture:
+2 if you are in the pic too
+2 for headphones
+1 for having a CD in the pic
-10 for no music store

Cool, I just got -5 points! Not much incentive, is it?

I know, I know, it's just a silly game. But the reality is that the points have mutated into something people get competitive about.

Oh well. Rest assured that some day I will win and some day I'll get to be the hunt master. And when that happens, if the photo isn't taken in Iowa, you'll get minus eleventy million points.

I dont have any problem with the -10 for not riding to a music store...
It allowed me to play since the weather has not broken here yet & I have only been able to ride one day, so far, in 2009.
I think the intenet of this hunt (& most of the hunts so far) was to get us out in public on our scooters to an interesting location. The hunts have sent us to baseball fields, fire stations, golf courses, libraries, movie theaters, train stations, beaches, parks, and other locations.

I am looking forward to the next hunt (& better weather)!

So.... back to the hunt! Lets see some more photos!

Sorry Orange Guy, I hear what you're saying... the hunt was actually to get a picture of your scoot in front of a music store, all the other points are just bonus. But since Eric asked if it could be done elsewhere, I said okay, but I had to penalize you guys somehow. I guess I should have re-done the whole thing and put bonus points for the music store and no penalties. If I do another one I just won't let anyone do it at home. :P

Its a cortech tail bag.... I am very happy with it - I really like the fact that if I need to haul somthing that is bulky, I can put the tail bag under the seat & strap the bulky item to my rack (like picking up a case of beer at the store)

There are more photos & a link to the website where I bought it in this thread

Serious? Nice. With so many snowbirds here from the Midwest/East/Canada we have several places like that. The Iowa is just the first to come to mind.

Good luck ... they have ALL these rules you have to follow!
I suppose I should be upset, even feel violated, but I'm not. No, in fact, I think this is a friendly message, like "Hey, wanna play?" and yes I want to play. I really really do.

WAY TO GO SYD!!!!

You are in the lead and there is only 45 minutes left in the hunt according to my time zone... unless you guys want to give ericalm the extra day. Its ok with me if you are really gonna do it. If anyone has a problem with the hunt running through tomorrow, then we can stop now.
