i know someone with a 170 cylinder kit and someone else with a 180... its a lot cheaper than getting a 200 vespa motor... with probably pretty similar performance. :D

a p200 engine would work.

but for 2500 you can buy enough go fast goodies to be faster than a p200

here's the deal...i need to go faster or i am gonna have to move the time table up on getting a GTS

What are some recomondations for increasing the speed

My original plan was to buy the 200cc engine for $2500 and the crate up and sell the original 150cc engine as a replacemnt engie for $1500 that way i would only be out $1000

Sito+ pipe. Rejet. Eliminate a layer of your air filter (de-blue).

That'll yield considerably greater performance at the expense of some fuel economy.
Huh? What just happened?

Well, look at it this way, MPGwise...

Stock Stella if you weigh 180lbs and ride like a normal person gets around 85MPG. Ride it like you stole it or if you weigh more, 70-80MPG. Upjetting, debluing and Sito+, 60-70MPG.

Many of the higher speed mods usually involve new carbs, new pipes, etc and of course fatter jets... Most people who have crazy performance stuff end up with 40-60MPG tops. I am guessing.

$2500?
You are getting screwed!
I could build you a full race 210 from the ground up for $100 more!
And NO, you cannot build a 177 to match a built 210.

For $2500 you can buy a whole P200 in decent condition, with some cash left over.

And I have to reluctantly agree that SPD is in the dumps since Joel passed away. I have had two orders that never materialized regardless of how many times I talked to Daniele. ASC and SW are the only ones I deal with now.

Most of the problems I've read about involve improper set-up and break in.

Once you add the kit, it's imperative to get the jetting right. With the increased heat, if the engine isn't rich enough, you're going to seize.

Also it appears as though, if you don't take the steps to go ahead and replace known weak aspects of the Stella (like the crank) while you're at it, there's a good chance that the weaker components will fail after you add the kit.

All that being said, I'm looking forward to a kit and crank sometime this year.

From what I understand, the crank 'issue' was a problem on Stellas made Dec 05 and earlier...

Also, one freind had his 03 blow its crank at 4000miles, another freind replaced his at 15,000 (the guy I posted in another thread with 20k) just as a precaution while he was doing some other PM...so he got 15k on an 04 with extreme abuse (like riding to StL from KC, 60mph solid for 6 hours each way not once, but 3 times)

so a performance crank is required with the kit. how about jetting? dyno it? or do the old school checking your spark plugs at wot?
