dealer has choice of two tires, which one should I get?

Post by tempalte »

I need to replace the rear tire of my blur. I emailed my local scooter shop and they said:
There are a couple options for your rear tire. I can get you an Avon Viper Stryke for about $62 or a Maxxis for about $66. I do not currently have either in stock so just give me a call or send another e-mail letting me know which one you would prefer.
Anyone have an opinion on which of these tires is better?

thanks
chad

What size are the Avon Viper Stryke?

You know how the Maxxis will do...

I want them to mount it too. I think I'll go with the Maxxis.

When I went to order the tire, neither tire was in stock. The Maxxis is not scheduled to arrive until the end of June but the Avon is scheduled to come back into stock at the end of this month which would be some time next week.
Looks like Blur tires are tough to come by. Over two months to get the Maxxis. Anyone know if the Avon's are any good? They would be the 130/60-13.

Avons are good, judging by what the Suzuki GS guys I ride with say. Check DennisKirk and BikeBandit for cheap tire prices. I just ordered a Bridgestone Spitfire for my motorcycle and they were like $50 at one place, $55 at the other.

Are you pulling the tire yourself? If so, take it to Cyclops on Merriam Drive. Actually, I thank that's where your dealer takes it anyway to be balanced.

Just trying to help out another KC Blur owner! Let me know what you end up doing.

I'm a fan. Plus, they ship from Minnesota, which is only one day by UPS up I-35!

I thought I read Maxxis stopped making scooter tires. That's good to hear they're available.
