Help an Injured Scooterist in Need!

In a thread called "Who hasn't crashed?", I linked to a recent story about a woman in the Bay Area getting hit by a drunk driver. I learned today that the woman is Astrid Molzer-Gunter, who is still in critical condition in the ICU due to the injuries she received, which also resulted in the amputation of one leg below the knee.

This is when the community needs to come together to help out a scooterist in need. Astrid's friends in the San Francisco Scooter Girls have asked Scooter-Relief.org to set up a page to gather donations to help with her medical expenses from what will be a difficult recovery.

Astrid is not a member of San Francisco Scooter Girls. She is a very good friend of SFSG, as well as the two-wheel community in SF, and a great person. It was a San Francisco Motorcycle Club meeting she was returning from. She is an SFMC supporter.

Update: Astrid is out of the ICU, but "not out of the woods yet" as someone on ModernVespa who's visited her says.

As far as the woman who hit her, several local scooterists showed up for her court date a couple of weeks ago. Update from laura of the San Francisco Scooter Girls:

The DUI Driver was just remanded to jail with a 200,000 bail set for her 2nd DUI with injury accident that put Astrid in the ICU .

The DA told us that showing up in court made an impact on the court, and
she will remain in jail .
