Scooter Commuter Day - Atlanta

Just had this passed along to me. Last year S.C.D. was an absolute blast despite the 30ish degree temps. Should be a bit warmer this year...

There will be a group ride from Eco Moto @ 887 W. Peachtree St. Folks should start gathering here at around 8am. Coffee and donuts will be supplied!!

Here are the details for Scooter Commuter Day Atlanta.

Wednesday, April 1, 2009, 9:00AM – 9:15AM
Details:
Scooter Commuter Day sponsored by Governors Office of Highway Safety
9:00AM - We anticipate 150-200 scooters to staged at the Gold lot of Turner Field
9:15AM - The riders will leave the Gold lot
Capital Police will escort the riders from the Gold lot of Turner Field to Washington Street for the press conference.
Washington street will be closed from 9:00am – 11:30am for the press conference

We’re asking all scooter owners throughout greater Atlanta to participate
Support the cause – ride to the Capitol

Help make Atlanta a scooter-friendly city (designated scooter parking, discounts for scooter riders, etc.)

Ride along with Bob Dallas, director of the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety as he promotes scootering in Atlanta

Promote our Share the Road campaign

Are most of the scooters going to be small, or ar there going to be a good many Burgmans, and silver wings?

Should be a mix of everything. There were 50cc's and 500cc's, modern and vintage, gas and electric, out last year. The small scoots are definitely more than welcome!! I hope you can make it out.

Sorry you're going to miss it. There should be a lot more stuff coming this spring and summer. It really is a very active scooter community. I don't know if you've been to scootlanta.com yet, but it's a good way to keep up with ongoing events.

It was an okay turnout. The rain certainly kept a lot of people away. If you go to www.ajc.com or http://scooter.meetup.com/228/ you can see some pics.

it;s good to see vespas along side tgbs, and even alongside joker clones...
