Black Buddy - Brown Seat
Hey everyone, Just got my black buddy about 3 weeks ago and already catching the mod bug. I was thinking about buying a brown seat for it or getting my seat recovered with a brown material like leather or vinyl. I'm just trying do decide if that will look good or not. If someone has done this i would love to see a picture and opinions would be a great help.

how did that work for you? I'm in the middle of attempting to paint mine and my wife's rough house's with krylon fusion, never painted a scoot before, it's coming out ok but i cant avoid having at least one run in the paint on each body panel. any suggestions?Dan Buddy wrote:I painted mine. Buy 3-4 cans, prepare to waste lots to make a good look, paint from a distance so anything that spits out wont hit the panels and have a run.Latch wrote:how did that work for you? Preparation is the key. You need to use steel wool or scotch brite pads to dull the clear coat so the paint has something to stick. The can says no prep needed, it lies. After it's dulled give it a good wash with prepsol© and let it dry completely. Paint on as many layers as it takes to get nice even coverage. Good luck.Latch wrote:how did that work for you? i think im going to order a couple extra sets of plastic and paint them differently so i can switch them out and have a few different paint schemes, so hopefully my next attempt will turn out a little better, but i also would like to have someone do some vinyl graphics on it that would cover up the flaws anyway. thx for the advice

The top case at that height makes the seat look lower and leaner!!! Looks great. That is what I want! And teh windshield is the last touch.fretman wrote:

Just got my 2009 Buddy!!!
I went home on leave before heading to Iraq and bought a brand new 2009 Buddy from Magic City Motor Scooters in Birmingham Al. Matt is a good friend and I am glad I was able to pick up my little road burner before heading out. I put 105 miles on it the first day I got it. I plan on hooking it up when I get home.

Thanks Krusty! Any idea how much a custom seat like that would cost? I can't imagine it'd be too expensive as the seat isn't very big.KRUSTYburger wrote:I'm pretty sure Fretman had his seat custom covered with leather... if my memory is right, which it often isn't.
You can get a brown seat from Scooterworks though, they came stock on the sunset buddies. Maybe you can
put a wanted ad in the for sale section and get a lightly used one for cheap?
I'll also check scooterworks for the seat. I think it'd look good on my white Buddy.

Fretman's seat came from http://www.pirateupholstery.com/ (so did mine after I saw the pics of his). You can contact them and get an estimate for a custom seat redo. A simple recover with vinyl or leather shouldn't be to outrageous, but if you want to personalize/customize it, the price can climb as high as you likeMs_Kady wrote:
