What do you do for work??

Associate Director for the NFL Network.

I work in a control room during live daily broadcasts - both studio and remote productions. I coordinate all the tapes, graphics, commercials, timing, etc...and help the Director with camera assignments.

I sell advertising for a local newspaper group (display, web, inserts, door hangers, etc)
We do weekly LOCAL newspapers & business is not as bad as you would think.

I'm a "Technical Project Coordinator" involved in the paperwork side of IQ and IA internet circuit installation. Basically, that means I do a lot of order entry and tracking for internet circuit/VOIP orders and put out any fires that spring up in the process.

I'd rather be a Physical Therapist (can't afford to return to school for it) or Salma Hayek's personnal masseusse.

i used to be a software tester before the project i was working on last year got shelved. now i look for work, dumpster dive for food, and tend to my honeybees. which is the thing i would rather be doing full time with gardening iffin' i had the acreage

I'm a contract administrator for a global A/E firm, currently based at a major airport in town. I determine if what the contractor wants to do is legal via the contract and I sign the requests for payment...a bean counter with a side of lawyer.

I think my title is 2nd line support, or Network Engineer, or some such drivel, for an international semiconductor maker. Someone has a problem where I work, they call me. If it's Windows (forget the jokes, I've heard 'em all), I can fix it (usually). If it's an application, I hit F1 and can help fix it (or explain it away). If it's something else, I know where most of the bodies that can fix it hide.

I went backwards, career-wise. Instead of coming out of school, having a career, burning out and making a job out of my hobby, I spent years in the hobby-jobs, burned out and started my career a dozen years ago

Not a damn thing for the last two years. That's the way I like it.

For the thirty years before I was an electrical engineer at a large hydroelectric powerplant. It was mostly a good job, sometimes not so good, a few times bad. But I stuck it out and now I'm doing what I used to wish I was doing.

I was an Editorial Photographer for non profits; Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, Temple Children's, MHA-SEPA, Philadelphia School District etc.
Been published nationally/ internationally with pet projects for Down Beat, Jazz Times. Photography got messed up for me though when the Philadelphia Weekly sued me because they thought they owned my negs and slides. CHUMPS!

Braniff was the world's coolest airline in the '60s and '70s! Pucci uniforms, Alexander Girard fabrics and interiors for the planes and terminals, Andy Warhol in their ads. I wish I'd gotten to see the Love Field terminal in Dallas in all its '60s modern glory.

After working for 34 years at the local NBC affiliate, I took the plunge 2 years ago into the world of the self-employed. I'm now a freelance video editor/producer. I wouldn't want to do anything else... I love it.

I work with people with developmental disabilities that have found themselves in the criminal justice system. It is never a dull moment dealing with caseworkers, judges, attorneys, cops, psychologists, what have you. The clients are often the most sensible party. I need to write a book or script for a sitcom.

It seems everyone I talk to about Braniff loved them! I started with them
in 1978, and we wore Halston. The skirt and blouse had little H's all over
them. You talk about fun times! The layover's were long and so were
the happy hours... Occasionally, we'd take turns going to the cockpit
to suck down a little pure oxygen for "hair of the dog"...

My job: thermal envelope specialist.
I super insulate homes in NewEngland. I insulate 60 R in the roof, 40 R in the walls, and 20 R in the basement increasing energy retention (heating & cooling) in homes by 70% (because after you super insulate- the rentention of energy of a building is far better performing, it's kinda like turning an SUV into a fuel sipping Scooter!, you go further on less.)

Besides rather being on a scooter, I am prepairing a workshop aimed at those who are on a path of inner growth and enlightenment. The workshop will consist of martial arts inspired movements, guided meditation, and sharing of personal growth & development tools.

Neat mix of professions/avocations/stuff!

I'm a computer programmer for a local community college by day, working on boring HR stuff for the school.

Then in the evenings and weekends I have a face and body art business.

Face painting, temp tattoos, henna, body painting, SFX, glitter tattoos. If it goes on the body and doesn't last, I probably work with it. I've gotten to do a bit of SFX makeup for a short film, work with the last airport disaster drill doing moulage for the "victims", play at local festivals painting the kids faces, airbrush temp tatts for local schools, and travel to Charleston and Orlando and New Orleans to paint. I've got 5 more years in the local retirement system until I can retire, and I hope to have my biz going well enough to be fully self supporting at that point.

I'm a manufacturing test engineer for an electronics company. I design electrical screens that each of our product must pass before we sell them to customers. If it weren't for me, my company would ship all kinds of garbage to our customers... but I am a little sick of hearing that our "production yields were really good until they went through Brian's test". No, your yields were NOT good. My test does NOT cause faulty product. Faulty assembly causes faulty product.

But, I've been doing it for 18 years and can't imagine doing anything else for a living.

I work for big oil (hell, it seems half of Houston works for big oil in some way shape or form) doing IT. Most recently been doing some development and deployment work for software that our drillers use. I'm moving over to Linux support here in a month or two. I think my dream is to eventually be a freelance/small shop programmer, but to date I haven't been able to find the discipline to get off the internets and work on my side code projects when I'm at home. I'm hoping that once I get my home office set-up again I can started with some side work and see if I can find a niche.

I'm a Chef @ a Famous Minneapolis Warehouse District Instituition, I Have been here for 16 years the end of this month,and It's really starting to suck royal,I have been a Chef for almost 40 years now, I just kind of fell into It.Once you're In It does not seem to be easy to get back out.I also do Commercial Food Styling for a local Digital Photo guy I am friends with,Saves him the going rate of $ 600.00 a day for a good 1 and I get all the photo stuff I want for nothing.Have Nothing Short Of A Terrific Day Everyone !!!

I'm *also* a full-time graphic designer. Magazines, mostly...display ads, logos, etc. and the occasional illustration. Plus a crapload of freelance. (And my school teachers told me sketching in by notebooks wasn't going to pay the bills. Ha.)

Some days, I'd rather be building furniture.

We never go longer than a week without seeing each other...usually she'll come here for a week, then I go there for a week. 5 years later and we're both getting tired. Might be time to make a choice
