still waiting on tires

Post by tempalte »

Two months so far and my dealer says my tire is still on back order.

I found this tire on the web:
http://www.monsterscooterparts.com/mich ... -tire.html
Michelin 130/60-13 Pilot Sport SC Scooter Tire

I may just order from there. Anyone know if they are any good?

I'm sure they're "good," they're Michelins… Maxxis tires are perfectly fine, but Michelin is obviously a much better-known brand.

But they may not be what you're used to, and they're probably softer than the stock tires, which is great for traction but bad for tire life. It says they're stock on the MP3, from what I've heard, most modern Vespa scooters go through OEM tires in no time, but I don't know if that's true of the MP3, too.

Dunno how the price compares, either.

They have a P rating, so don't go over 93 MPH! : )

I read somewhere a year ago that Maxxis wasn't making scooter tires anymore, but I've seen them all over the place since. They're owned by Cheng Shin (or vice versa?), so I'd search for Cheng Shins, might be the same tire.

I found this Avon
http://www.dkscooters.com/avon-130-60-1 ... tires.html

Avon 130/60-13 M/C 60P Viper Stryke AM63 Scooter Front or Rear Tires

Think that one might be better suited for regular commuter riding?

We use alot of the Shinko tires. They have a good selection of 13" tires. most sizes from 130-60/13 to 150-70/13. The #568 pattern works really good.
