Question about Progressive Insurance

Post by sparty »

I read this from the Yahoo board. Anyone has similar experience?
I just found out that Progressive Insurance will not offer
Comprehensive/Collision coverage on the Buddy. The underwriter said
they look at the Buddy as an unsupported PGO import (Even though it is
listed in NADA) that would be hard to get parts for and hard to find
repair service.

This is a WARNING for anyone who has a Buddy and purchased collision
coverage through Progressive. Review your insurance documents very
carefully. If they underwrote it as a "Stella Comp" (meaning
comparable) you might end up with difficulty if you ever have to submit
a claim because the Buddy is not a metal body scooter.

I have full coverage from Progressive and listed as Genuine Buddy on the policy.
There must have been an underlying issue that the other writer had.

Ditto...Did you go through a local agency when you got your coverage? My local agent couldn't find the Buddy in the system, so they called the national office and got it taken care of. No problems.

I just picked up my Buddy yesterday and got a quote from Progressive for $399 / yr.....but chose GEICO for $277 / yr and after working up the policy opted out of the comprehensive because of my riding habits-location and am paying only $128!

We got told the same thing. It was 2:30 am when I called to get the policy. I've been thinking about calling back to find out why all the discrepancies. Now I know for sure that I should.

They couldn't find the buddy in the system either and told me that since it wasn't worth enough they wouldn't give it comprehensive. So if my scoot is stolen, I'm SOL. Which means I'd be PO'D.

My progessive insurance indentifies the vehcile as 2006 Genuine Scooter Comp Stella. Is that what you have? I do have comprehensive insurance with $500 deductible and collision insurance with $1000 deductible so I guess I am okay as far as coverage go.

Figure this out....I insured mine in June and it also says G.S.Comp Stella. One month later I added my DH's to my policy and it comes back as G.S. Comp Buddy :?:

Ahem.

Political discussions are strictly off-limits in this forum. This is a sterling example of exactly why politics and religion are off limits. Nobody ever switches sides in a discussion like this -- it only makes enemies out of people that are otherwise perfectly capable of getting along.

I've removed the offending comments and I'm taking the extra precaution of locking this thread.
