I'm SO sorry to hear that, Kierstyn. I, too, would be lost without my scooter. I'd be frantic, sad and angry beyond belief. I sincerely hope you get it back and the perps are duly punished.
You might consider advertising your lost scooter on Craigs List. I've known people that has worked for...

I'm really sorry to hear about that Kiersten... I see you have it posted on Scoot.net.
Have you posted this on www.scootma.com and on some of the New England yahoo groups? http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/NewEnglandScooters/

http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/RIScooters/ etc
You also might want to put a notice on craigslist
Spread the word! Your scooter stands out and will definitely be noticed.

I saw an Italia last week on Mass Ave, by the hospital. Not sure what day, probably Thursday or Friday. I remember because I almost turned around to catch up with the woman riding because I hadn't seen any other Buddys in Boston. Was that you riding it?
So sorry - I'll definitely keep an eye out.

It was me riding the Italia near the hospital. I frequently head home via Mass Ave in to South Boston.
Ive gotten a lot of responses of people who recognize the SI so hopefully if anyone sees it now it will lead its return.
I appreciate everyone keeping their eyes and ears peeled for it. Ive gotten a lot of great responses to everywhere I have posted. People have really been great!
I am postering in the area with a reward, hopefully it will help!

FOUND: Series Italia!
I found my scooter! I got a tip from a guy on Craigslist saying he thought he saw a kid riding it in the next town over. I decided to drive out there since it was such a nice day and the kid literally pulled out in front of me and cut me off. I chased him down and called the cops. He was arrested and my scooter is now home.
Thank you to everyone who helped me out by giving me tips and places to post. I appreciate all the info you provided!
Happy again!

Having a forum like this one is defeintely beneficial. I got responses from so many people who had some great ideas for trying to get it back.
The damage should be covered by insurance since there was 200 miles on the scoot when it was stolen. The kids managed to rack up about 200 miles in the three days it had been missing.
There is obviously significant damage to the ignition and electrical. I contacted the dealership and he was unsure how long it would take to get a new ignition. Does anyone have any idea?
I need new racks for the front and back, a new trunk, new logos (mine were ripped off leaving a mess on the body), a new seat and maybe a new front panel.
I cant ride it simply because the turn signals dont work but it can be kick started which is how i got it home last night.

CONGRATS!!!
Such a stroke of luck (in the kid cutting you off and getting the bike back!)
I'm sorry that it happened in the 1st place, sorry that you'll have to wait for repairs/insurance and all but again GLAD you got it back.
Did you find out how he stole it? (Hot wire it? had a friend pick it up and put into a truck?)

Glad to hear your sweet scoot is back home.
I was always a bit concerned about theft, so I made it a bit harder by always using a disc brake lock. I bought one like this on eBay:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NEW-Moto ... 0112651604
You just put it in one of the holes on your front disc brake. Just don't forget it is on and try to drive away!
It doesn't guarentee anything, but it gives me piece of mind ...

The bad part about disc locks is that unless it is connected to a chain or cable wrapped around something solid, it still is easy to lift a scooter onto a pickup. Chains and solid objects are still the best. Or live in a small town like me where nobody but me wants one...
