Quake!!!!
6.9 near Calexico, Mexico. Things have fallen off the wall and fallen over. Checking for damage. We had a strong aftershock too.
The scenery only changes for the lead scooterist.

I figure the stress release is working its way up the Pacific/Nazca Plate fault-line from Chile, up to Baja, up to LA next...

Good news, no damage to our neighborhood. Just stuff falling off shelves and walls.. Some damage in our downtown area, broken glass, cracked masonery walls, water mains. Nothing too serious in the Cajon Zone.
I'll have my Easter Eggs scrambled please.

We could feel it here in NoHo; a friend said he felt in in Palm Springs.

Just checked out the blog of a friend who is sailing with her husband in Caribbean and Bahamas. They saw Montserrat come alive again. Ash falling everywhere. Said their solar panels on the boat were covered with film of ash. There is a little too much seismic activity going on for my taste. Maybe after I learn how to ride a scooter well I should take flying lessons. Just in case

I hate to say this but if you think about it, it all makes sense. The earthquake in Chile was so strong that it slowed the earth's rotation down. That's going to have repercussions. The earth is just sorting itself out...
I did feel the EQ in Pasadena. It was a circular motion and kept up for quite a while. And, yes, I do think that there is a strong possibility that we will have a major EQ around here soon.

It was apparently upgraded to a 7.2 at some point.

Despite earthquakes, floods, mudslides and wildfires it's actually still safer to live in CA than most other states when it comes to death or injury from natural disasters. Cold and heat are the biggest causes. Then there are various storms much worse than what we see here, tornadoes, blizzards, etc.Tocsik wrote:I'm in Denver now and, as much as I love the beach, I don't want to live on the coast at the expense of everything West of here falling off!
CA, and SoCal are relatively safe in comparison.
Until, of course, the Big One comes.
Or, you know, lava starts spewing out of the La Brea Tar Pits.
