scooter + Music: a quick poll

(I'm looking for info on Stellas, but I'm interested about what can be done on any other scooters, too)

While riding your scooter, do you:

• not listen to anything but the road
• use a music device with headphones
• use a music device with a helmet speaker
• use a self powered (seperate motorcycle battery) & speakered music device like the "buzz" or something similar
• use a mounted speakered system wired to the scooter batttery itself, like this.
• bungie a boom box to the rear rack and pop in a tape? (if needed, see also "tape")

--and do you feel good about it?

i love to listen to my pipe sing to me
but if i want music i will put my speakers in my helmet and use my mp3 or phone(it has an mp3 and raido)
i doubt i could hear any speaker that isnt by my ear
as for the speaker thing that scooterworks sells i have riden a stella with one on without a windsheild you cant hear it but with one its ok

Used to have homemade helmet speakers but now I just use one earbud. Occasionally I use both if I'm going for a long boring ride.

For me, music is a distraction in the city when riding but conversely helps me stay focused while riding out on open roads.

For whatever reason, I can't find earbuds that will stay in place when I put my helmet on or after wearing the helmet for a few minutes. I have trouble with this even with the helmet off. Yes, I've tried many brands and those that come with different sized pieces and so on. I must have weird ears.

I use homemade helmet speakers (cheap earphones hacked apart so they fit in my helmet liner without bulging too much), iPod Nano (older square model), and a wireless remote (by Monster, no longer made). The volume and quality are not the best but are sufficient.

My next setup will likely be the wired helmet speakers and controller setup from IMC Motorcom:

I like this more than some of the Bluetooth setups out there because it's much smaller and less obtrusive, requires no additional power, uses a 1-button control for everything and is compatible with the iPhone's Voice Control features. It's also under $70—much cheaper than Bluetooth options out there.

just curoius to see what works and what doesn't work.

FYI I am planning on using a sound system about 75% of the time for stepe by step GPS directions and 25% for music on long stretches. (40 minute drive to work one way on a small road)
I figure, if people found something that'll produce good audible volume for music while riding- it might be loud/clear enough to be able to help me hear the GPS.

Nothing here, either. Riding my scooter is one of the few places I'm not inundated with information and/or entertainment, and frankly I relish this.

This only works in town. Although they are plenty loud, wind noise and my earplugs are too much for them.

An MP3 player works for me.If I'm in the thick of traffic I have it turned way down but when I'm out out of the thick I then enjoy my tunes.I dont have any problems listening and paying attention to my surroundings.I would hate to be easily distracted and be unable to listen to the tunes.

I would love to have a system like the one that is designed for the stella, but i make do. I love having the speakers besides it gives me something to dance to at long redlights.
