Have about decided on the Roughhouse 50

Post by oldscoot »

I'm a 6 year Honda Ruckus owner which is about finished. It has nearly
13,000 miles on it and the mainbearings are shot. Still runs but I don't dare
ride it. Anyway, I'm thinking about getting the Roughhouse and have a few
questions, but first the dealer tells me that they de-restrict all their new
scooters so that's taken care of.
1. Will 10% ethanol gas be a problem?
2. Assuming I treat the Roughhouse right, how many miles can I expect to get before major problems develop?
3. Are there any issues with this scooter. The Ruckus had the mainbearing issue on the 2004-2006 models.
4. I'm a big guy, about 240 lbs. Will that be a problem?

Thanks

The only problem with RH is it's not a Rattler :P

I don't have a roughhouse but the Buddy 50 has the same engine and I havn't had any problems in 3k miles. I'd post in the roughhouse rattler board here, you'll probably get more input there.

you might want to check out the web site pure-gas.org . there are a lot of ethanol free gas stations in wi. I run non ethanol high test in my 2-strokes and add 1 oz. of sea foam additive per gallon . I also have had great results with ngk iridium plugs , they don't foul out . good luck .

He speaks the truth!
But if you have a stock ruckus, and have enjoyed it. Then you'll be fine. Unrestricted, the RH (I've heard) is faster.
no i don't ride a scooter, i am a scooter pilot!

Thanks for the answers. New question.
Will de-restricting (done by the dealer) void the warranty.

de-restriction by the dealer won't void your waranty . If you would like to watch the process check out this video http://vimeo.com/2575002 .
