Happy 1 year anniversary US 4T Stella.

so, I hear that the boat with the 4T stellas has already passed through here. If the source I have is correct, we should see them on the West Coast mid to late March.

fingers crossed. (still)

basically I'm driving a 2T in the meantime - but my deposit/fullpayment on the 4T has been there since march last year.
and for the record, I am STILL very excited to get my 4T!
I hope that my time on the 2T (winter excluded) will help me appreciate the 4T all the more.

shipping lanes.

I am no expert, but I am pretty sure its a shorter route than around the bottom of Africa.

Plus it sounds exotic.

I believe so. That's where Genuine is headquartered and where the last batch was held up by Customs/EPA.

Maybe not in time for ROM (I'll be there too!) but soon from what I've heard.

I think, I figured out why some of us(me) were confused. Previous conversations on Modern buddy about LML’s shipping routes to Genuine Scooter Company, made different assumptions. Mostly, we all found shipping westward from India as ‘Folly’ and Shipping Eastward from India to USA ‘made more sense’.
see below for those conversations/comments:
  • from forum topic: Stella 4T's to be in Chicago by the 7th!
Tee Jay wrote:...When I spoke with GSC last week he said they were shipped to an East Coast port. I'm no Geography major but WTF...
  • also this whole topic: (just about every post)
    topic14973.html
But I now feel I’ve flip-flopped on my “It must be a west coast destination” standpoint.
For 2 reasons:
  1. on 2 occasions we heard from pretty reputable places that said the scoots would be aiming for a USA East coast destinatio:
Tee Jay wrote:...When I spoke with GSC last week…
    bosco wrote:[bosco is a dealer :) ]... If the source I have is correct…
  2. if I look at the situation through the eyes of a worldwide distribution company, I’d realize that LML also ships a BOATload of “Stars” to Europe. And traveling west and through the Suez into the Mediterranean would be the way to go. And while that is a known boat shipment- might as well double-up on cargo and have the boat travel just a little more through the straights of Gibraltar and across the Atlantic and into a US east coast port, take a quick Land-jaunt to Chicago and they're there.
There is one point I have against those reasons however…
  1. the only worldwide distribution reason to still travel East of India is that the “Belladonna” is sold in Australia, but I imagine both for volume of sales and proximity to the starting India, I imagine it’s possible those get delivered on a smaller boat?
Interesting how the same subject/idea, found on 2 topics, on the same forum, can be so different in their conclusions- but I think I finally understand it.
The only thing left to confuse me a little is the “boat with the stellas passing throught the Suez only to arrive at the West coast”,
Which I figure is possibly mis-type – when it was meant “East coast”?
Otherwise it’d imply that they’d go from India to the Red Sea through the Suez Canal to the Mediterranean to the Atlantic, dodge the US east coast, and instead head for the Panama Canal(not cheap), into the Pacific ocean and then up to the US West coast. I just don’t see that as feasible.

[quote="Lovelandstella"]

wow, long post.

the short version is :

India to Chicago
Chicago to everywhere else in the US.

We see them on the West Coast after they land in the US, not when they land in the US.

Hope this clears it up.
They are in the US now.
We should see them in CA soon.

Am looking forward to hearing and seeing how all of you enjoy your new bikes. I'll be in the market for one next year after the car I bought with my Stella deposit is paid off! I figure if I can pay off a 31k car in two years with a 4k deposit I can treat myself to a new scooter in 2012.

I am a dork and very interested in this. (Proof)
Anything you can share on this would be much appreciated.

I know you weren't expecting anything different from the 2T uncrate process, but now that you have the official 4T uncrate directions, does anything jump out to you as different?

Fact. Bosco = Awesome.

yeah... I am in Colorado and they are close, but not here.
Although, I just found out the Red 4T Demo may have been only a mere 3 hours away in Colorado springs this whole time. Since finding out about this, I didn't want to research it too much for fear or smacking my head too hard. :fp:

Nice shade of blue. Oh, and I also tend to haunt The Scoot Shop, myself, every once in a while. Sure wish I had the money for that Symba, even though it's the blue, and not the red one (they sold that).

Congrats!

We ship stuff all over the country, and sometimes I'm amazed at the detours things take. Trucking companies subcontract out to smaller companies, who sometimes get their buddies involved in sharing the load.

We once shipped a bunch of crates from California to North Carolina, and we specifically requested a flatbed truck to carry the load. When it showed up in North Carolina? The crates were strapped to the top of a tanker truck!!
