I am on Spotify*, which may help me pick up some new tunes. Username: ericalm. A good way to see and share what your friends are listening to.

I've put out 2 playlists. One is 44 versions of the song "Summertime," some genius, some good, and some just plain awful.
The second is The Literal "Summer" Mix, 61 songs I like that all have "summer" in the title—none of which are "Summertime."

*Spotify is a new (to the US) music streaming service. You can stream any song from their 15 million tune library for free, only you get a commercial every few songs. Otherwise, you can pay for a premium service that will also work online and on mobile.
I've been using Spotify for a while. I was using a proxy and a fake address to get the British version and now I'm using the American version. You've opened a whole new world. I thought you could only share via Facebook so I am giddy at the thought of sharing playlists. Thanks!

Here's a playlist I made of songs about monkeys and gorillas.

It is also my measure of tiredness. Just like I keep my drink glasses in front of me (stacked in my hand if plastic) to remind me how many I've had, I know how tired I am by how I'm singing along.

I sing with all my might when I'm wide awake.

I start to whisper the words, I'm getting tired

I start mouthing the words, think about pulling over

I start just thinking the words - DEFINITELY pull over.
Do the drink glasses and the song singing follow the reverse order? You know,
1 glass = thinking the words
2 glasses = mouthing the words
3 glasses = whisper the words
4 glasses = sing with all your might

The Eurythmics....Sweet!

Annie was busy bridging the gap between Pagan solstice holidays and religious last year. I found myself hypnotized many times last holiday season by this video. I've never seen another like it before. Leave it to Annie Lennox.

We should all get Bluetooth modules and start doing scooter karaoke.

I have an OG Zune. I almost got the brown one, but they didn't have it in stock and I had to purchase it RIGHT THEN b/c the friend buying it for me for my birthday was visiting from out of town. Cool story bro.

Anyway, I have a Zune, a Rio Pearl, and a smart phone with a bunch of albums on it (old enough to listen to entire records, young enough to DL the mp3s), but I never listen to music while I ride. My commute is five miles of city surface roads with pedestrians staggering like zombies in the middle of the road, cars with FOP tags committing ALL the moving violations, and delivery trucks parked at the crosswalk. So yeah, I need to pay attention.

That being said, I'm going to experiment with putting in the earbuds while on a long ride. I don't do a lot of long rides (lately on purpose due to health stuffs), but I can usually manage to eke one out over Labor Day weekend. I'll let y'all know how that goes.

As far as favorite music goes, well...I listen mostly to punk, metal, rockabilly, reggae, country, folk, doowop, soul, hiphop, dancehall, ska, rock n roll, jazz, indie rock, mariachi, and darkwave. I play drums in a grindcore band called Stoop Destroyer, I was born on the birthday shared by Bob Marley & Axl Rose, my favorite song of all time is "96 Tears" by Question Mark & The Mysterians, and my favorite band of all time is Rocket From The Crypt. So yeah. Music.

I caught myself swaying/swerving left and right (in the car in sparse traffic, fortunately) while singing along with "No Woman No Cry". Good thing I don't listen while scooting.

I was the only one at a crowded Trivia Night who knew that artist.

I don't scooter or cycle with my iPod, but I've got one of the older iPod Videos which has: Marvin Gaye to Willie Nelson, Yo-Yo Ma to Outcast, SRV to Wynton Marsalis, Bach to Perry Como or Andrea Bocelli to the Beatles.

I have almost every type of music on the thing and I think there is GOOD music within every genre. I work with musicians every day so I'm exposed to it all on any given day.

You've got some mighty fine taste in music. If you like Question Mark & The Mysterians... have you heard Spain's Wau y los Arrrghs. They do a great version of Girl (You Captivate Me) - http://youtu.be/0K_DnpgaoVk
