breaking in engine on buddy 125?

Post by kmo2771 »

Does anyone know the proper technique for breaking in the engine? My understanding is to go through the power band as much as possible. City driving helps accomplish this. How about max speeds during break in and the length of time at higher speeds? What type of damage is caused by speeds 55+ for a period of time, 30 seconds - 2 minutes?

The general consensus on this on this forum and modern vespa is to not go full throttle and try not to maintain any given speed for elongated amounts of time. This allows the system to align up and all the seals will seal and all.

I've heard and read debates again on this forum and MV on this. It seems that honestly, just ride the damn thing. That's how you break them in

How about a Piaggio OEM filter for $9.95?

I think scooterworks.com has the filter for $9.95 a piece plus shipping. Don't hold me to this, but if my alcohol drenched memory serves me correct, I'm pretty close. I bought two just a couple weeks ago and they shipped them very quickly.
