Scooter mugs at Starbucks

I was at Starbucks getting my Pumpkin Spice Latte and looking at the display of gifts around the store. I came upon a bookshelf. On this bookshelf, there were some black mugs with a greenish grayish silhouette of a scooter on it. I will be putting one of these on my Christmas list but thought I would pass it along.

Awesome! Gives me an excuse to go grab a peppermint mocha after work... so I can see if my local Starbucks has them so that I can avoid shipping!

Looks kind of like a Stella, or an old P-series Vespa

(Not what's at Starbucks, but still really cool...)

This reminds me of a missed opportunity. All of the Starbucks around here recently got remodeled and they got rid of all the wall hangings and I missed getting one of the "Italian Roast" wall hangings with the scooter on it by just one day.

Just I'll just have to settle with a scooter mug...

Oh, and if the obnoxious male Barista asks you how you know what kind of scooter it is... don't bother saying anything. Accept that they label it a "Vespa Mug," and tell them that it's because most American's don't know that there are any scooter brands other than Vespa (especially in my area).

That would be a nice stocking stuffer for my wife and would be a nice addition to the Corazzo jacket I got her, only problem is I want it - decisions decisions.

You shouldn't have to go too far.

I can't remember which city in SoCal, but I remember being down there some time back and there was literally a Starbucks on every block for about a quarter mile. People really must like their coffee down there...

My local bucks in the tiny burg of Lompton had 8 of them, so I got one. The receipt said VESPA MUG!

My new mug with a fresh fill, and my other mug.....

And, the mug is nicely made.....and it better be for $9!!! Why is everything so damn expensive? I haven't had a raise in years, and shit just keeps going up.....did you read where people are spending an average of 20% of their income just on health insurance? WTH????

It's a piece made by a local potter, LaPointe, who makes all sorts of cool house hold ware. My wife did buy that one for me, but I got to pick it out. If you're in Santa Barbara, CA on the weekend, he usually has a booth on the waterfront. A bit more expensive than the *$'s mug.

And if you look through the plastic glass, you'll see another of his pieces. That's my wife's coffee mug, she has two of those.......a double fisted caffeine fiend.

While most towns have a million SBUX, there is usually one or two that are designated their "retail" stores. So if you can't find it at the one you usually go to, ask them which location is there retail spot.

That's a pet peeve of mine. I notice coffee cups are either getting really small (demitasse) for espresso, or really big like everything else in the US.

Whatever happened to the standard 12 ounce cup? In anything interesting that is.

I am feeling weak. I passed another Starbucks today while I was working and had the strongest desire to go buy it. I don't think I can hold out for someone to buy it for me for Christmas. (@babblefish- People really must like their coffee down there... ) That is an understatement! (@k1dude It's 16 ounces!) The bigger the better. Some days I consider getting an IV drip of my favorite latte.

This morning, I went over to *$'s specifically to get the mug. There were 8 there. When I went back this afternoon to get my free holiday latte, which made me queasy after the second one, there were only 3 left. I'm sure they'll make as may as they can sell, but if my little burg can consume 5 in less than 4 hours, people are liking them. Better grab one when you see one, if you want one.

Now they've so over-saturated the market that the particular coffee bean they use is in shortage! And, their markets are dwindling because people have issue paying 5 to 8 bucks for a cup of coffee and it's forcing them to convert their business model to juice bars.

Heh, I actually do have this mug, but I drink tea from it.

BTW: 34oz = 1 liter (or litre if you're from Europe):)

hell man there were prob no local coffee houses until Starbucks popped up. then again i live in L.A. and coffee is everywhere. and weed. so its win / win

on another note i should point out when choosing myself i never go to Starbucks, either. but thats really all about the coffee and nothing more

no less then six places to get coffee on the one corner i frequent almost daily. thank goodness the lukewarm stuff at Starbucks is just one of them

We used to have several small coffee cafes around here that would host small jazz groups in the evenings. But alas, they're all gone now since the likes of Starbucks and Peets started showing up.

No, not really, but they're not as big of a plague as Starbucks, although the bulk of their stores are in California. They have locations in CA, CO, IL, MA, OR & WA.

Ack! Really?! Hadn't heard that. One of my customers is the manager of a local Peets. I'll have to call him and ask for more info. Thanks for letting me/us know. I can't believe Peets sold out....

I've been to a few NOT STARBUCKS coffee shops, and their house brew is just as bitter as *$'s. I complain on *$'s web page all the time about their suck house brew, to no avail. I still go to *$'s, but most of the time I make my own coffee at home, using Trader Joes various coffees. I buy different varieties of arabica dark, and I'm happy. *$'s is good for Bike Night and grabbing a quick cuppa when out and about. The one thing I do hate about going to *$'s is the frickin campers........kick them out after 2 hours, I need a place to sit!!!

Most Starbucks and Peet's REGULAR coffee is way too strong and bitter. If it was really good, no one would buy their fancy upgraded coffee's. They do it on purpose to get you to spend more money. If you want regular old inexpensive coffee it's hard to find. McDonalds, Noah's, and Dunkin Donuts comes to mind. But even the little independent shops their regular coffee is too strong and bitter.
