NSR: Very strange looking cars

Post by michelle_7728 »

Have you ever seen anyting like this before?

What is the point here? Maybe some aerodynamics, but what about the pipes coming over the roof? Bizarre. Some strange looking bikes at the end also....

No point in terms of performance. It's like Lowriders, just a style of customization. I've seen some like these before and think this may be popular in a few SE Asian countries. Can't find any other info, though.

Not everything has a point. Kind of like high fashion, or concept cars, you show what you can do not really expecting anyone to use it.

The term can be applied to both bikes and cars, but bikes were first.

Seems like those pipes would have been hot, if it was actually rerouted exhaust...and that one guy in the convertible was touching them!

^this. it is a style that has evolved to excess. how big, how far and how much. no real reason other than to do "it" (whatever "it" is.) bigger than the next dude.

I haven't seen any of those before, but I have seen their crazy custom vans. Couldn't find anything on Youtube, but Google images has some good shots. Often the rear doors open up to reveal an entire wall of giant subwoofer speakers that look like spaceship engines.

I remember first seeing these bikes in pictures back in the 80's ( YIKES! before the internet) and wondering if the looked through the bottom of the fairing to ride!

I was going to mention the vans, but I see someone beat me to it.

Crazy stuff but you gotta admire the time and quality of work!

I suspect all of these turn into giant alien robots when trouble arises.

The Japanese have a knack for taking a small aspect of a culture, fetishizing it and then expanding i into a whole new culture.
They do some amazing things with american Hot rods, Kustoms and lowriders.

I was really intrigued by what they were doing to "big scooters" a few years back, beautiful beautiful machines-
