It doesn't have a plate? Unless it was a 50, it'd need one in GA.

And what was that lump on the roadside up past the delineator signs?

I'm failrly sure it was a 50. So it prolly didn't need a plate . . . but if it WAAAS over 50, then ya - that's a second thing wrong.

I think the lump was some leaves/gunk/ a pile of fallen Georgia peaches? lol

There's something glaringly obvious to me that hasn't been pointed out yet.

The rider isn't ridin' like a boss and owning their lane. They're asking to get illegally passed.

Oh, there are states that allow filtering for cars too?

I have a souped-up Piaggio Vespa Ciao moped (Campbell's...best soup for your moped) that'll hit 45mph. In this town, I don't move over for anyone but emergency vehicles. :D

Perhaps he was trying to tell you something Amy, go around.

My guess is that the rider is new, and doesn't feel confident enough yet to own their lane.

or, the rider was using an "outside - inside - outside" path to take the upcoming curve (MSF BRC training).

Exactly! That just how I would have approached the curve.

Here's a short summary article by David Hough for any that are interested.

I'd like to say "yes" to that, but no. He was riding this way for about 5 miles before I turned off and lost sight of him

Hmm - I have never heard of that - it may vary from state to state.

In Georgia, mopeds are required to follow the same traffic laws/road rules as everyone else. However, they cannot be driven on roads where the minimum speed is 35 mph or greater (kind of unavoidable most of the time). So, in 30mph and below they should "own the lane". This was a 35-40 mph road.

That being said - I would not pass a fellow scooterist in the same lane (or on a curve).

All he needed to do was pull over and let the fifteen cars and dump truck behind him pass by. I stayed behind him as long as I could as sort of a shield.
