Testing out my new Contour Roam.

Post by BeefSupreme »

Finally bit the bullet and got an action cam. Amazon has Contour Roams for $99. Got a few mounts and filmed some scooter porn. This is recorded in 1080p and continuous still photos every 1second. I got a Pedco Ultra Clamp to mount the Roam to various parts of the scoots. It's rock solid. The first shot is mounted to the center stand, I have to find something a little more stable next time to get good "close to the ground" shots, it caused a little motion wobble or whatever. Anywho, Enjoy!

What's the field of view on that thing? Video looks kinda distorted but I can't put my finger on how/why.

Nice song and it looked like a nice ride too. Wish I had tunnels to ride in and bridges to ride over!

At 1080p (which I shot in) the field of view is 120degrees, at 720p it's 170. 720 gives it a fisheye effect, that's why I went with the 1080. There's also a setting for high and low bit rate, this was shot in low. I wonder if changing it to high would help reduce some of the "wobble" that's noticeable in the first shot. Oh well, trial and error, i'll have to do some more scooting to find out.

Loved it!

Would like to try out that Oyster House, too! :)

The Oyster House is pretty damn delicious. There's about 5 other seafood restaurants long the causeway. Maybe some day i'll hit them up in some sort of hushpuppy crawl.
