A Cargo Scooter?!?

Post by jrsjr »

Well, I'm the one who keeps carping about the lack of basic innovation in the scooterspace, so I guess it's only fair I am the one to post this article about a really innovative new design. I know better than to post something asking for comments, but, honestly, I don't know how I feel about this thing. It could be brilliant, but it's pretty shocking the first time you see it. What do you all think?

[EDIT: Now with real working URL goodness!]

Im still a fan of the TGB Delivery scoot. Normal running gear, keeps your stuff dry and secure and you can put a toilet flush handle on the top corner of the box for added humor. I have a flat floor that I have carried some strange things on. If it wont fit, out comes the car. Still, innovative and unique.

Almost asked "Where's the flippin' motor!?" but then found out it's electric.

Anything hauling 'cargo' will def suffer from being powered by an electric motor IMHO.

They may be hauling cargo around other employees or even inside a warehouse in which case fumes from an internal combustion engine would not work out. Plus you know electric motors are high torque and so put 500 lbs. of cargo inside that and electric is the best way to go so you wouldn't need to rev the engine up just to get it going.

I am with ScOOter, obviously.I have 8500 miles on my TGB150 Del with no
real problems. It is a pity that Peirspeed discontinued importing them. Mine
will run 55-60 all day long and can carry a real load of stuff. I even rode it on the Tail of The Dragon. It is great for PO runs when I have packages to ship.

AWESOME

There. I said it. If I lived in the City Center I'd be all over that. Look at all the ways to lock it up!

45 mph, 50 miles on a charge. Would be a great neighborhood vehicle. But
not practical for serious distance riding. However iut is an interesting concept

I like the idea, and wish them the best, but with electrics the fantasy has never lived up to the reality.

I do love their kickstarter section, it is great. I wish I had a spare $25 to throw their way.

Interesting. I've seen similar concepts like this for years, but I think this is the first one I've seen that managed to make it out of captivity.

I could see that being insanely useful in certain areas, especially where lane-splitting is allowed.

Looks super cool!

Don't doubt eelectric. The radio control hobbies have overtaken nitro for high performance. Our sectors are only a matter of time.

I'm looking at the pictures for a loop of sturdy metal or something to run a chain or cable through, and I don't see any, not even a little one ....

;)

Forget the cargo; just stuff that space full of batteries and take a run at the Cannonball.

Do you think that it could handle than kind of weight? I think that it would drain the batteries quicker. :? :?

It's unique, I'll give them that.

I'd still want a Honda Gyro UP or a Piaggio Ciao Porter more, though. :)
At what point does a hobby become an addiction? I'm uncertain, but after the twelfth scooter, it sorta feels like the latter...

Yes throw in some LIPO and cruise along at 25 mph for hours. :D

This scoot could possibly be big in overseas markets where so many ride in heavy traffic hauling all matter of cargo.Price would be the big issue though.

Lastly I'm a watching Lit Motors for their introduction of the C-1,slated for 2014.If it's everything they claim I think they will have a huge winner.

Interesting...I wonder if it would be a bit squirrely since you are just about sitting over the back tire.

Neat idea though. :)

I just revisited that video and if I read it correctly they had not reached their funding goal as of Sec. 20.

Interesting... but a few things that I just notice:

- The center of gravity for the rider would be a bit wonky if you had anything over 40lbs in that center "cube". Not sure if the top hinges out, which would increase it's usefulness

- Electric? While nice, it won't have the range that will attract users.

- What's "Apple" about the design? Seems like they stuck that in the description to simply get hits
"Earth" without Art is just "Eh"...

I agree with you, Neotrotsky. Electric vehicles have a long way to go to get
the public's approval. The ones that charge their own batteries using their
small gas engines(the Prius comes to mind) have gained the public's trust.
60-120 mile range before you have to recharge the battery is not going to
cut the mustard, as we say here in the South Land.
