Stella 4T starter keeps running

Post by dmc123 »

The other day I started the Stella 2010 4T as usual using the electric start and started to drive off. There was a whirling rattle coming from the scoot. I drove it for about a mile and thought it best to shut it down. I killed the engine by using the key but I could hear the starter still going. The only way to shut it off was to disconnect the battery and then I could kick start it and drive it normally.

I checked the starter button and its fine.
Im thniking it cold be this "cut off switch? You agree. Where is that switch and how to I know if its bad?

Any ideas?

thanks

This happened to my 2t and it turned out the starter relay was stuck closed. I soaked it in wd40 and tapped it against a wall and its been good as new ever since.

The relay on the 2t was behind the spare wheel, its probably the same on the 4T.

is this the starter relay the same as the cut off switch in the schematic?
I guess testing it would be pretty easy to see if the two large poles are shorted when measured right?

thanks

Yep, I had this on my 4T once, but had the relay replaced.
