Continental Zippy 1 vs. Zippy 2 vs. Zippy 3?

Post by un_designer »

Does anyone here have either the Continental Zippy 2 or Zippy 3 on their Buddy? I saw that a few people have Zippy 1, but from a little bit of googling, it seems that the Zippy 2 and Zippy 3 may be more versatile and provide better traction?

I'm just starting to look into replacing the stock white walls on my 07 SI and so any additional info would be appreciated. thx.

What about the hair; I find that somewhat intriguing.

The Zippy one I have used and can't complain. (But I like the Pirelli SL-26 better)
The Zippy two (the knobbile one) only comes in Ruckus / Zuma sizes (too big for Buddy)
The Zippy 3 (the "stella" one) I've never used but someone who I trust says they're not as good as the stock Buddy tires

Lou76 is SOOOoo right. I've had Michelin S1's on several scooters and found them to be plenty "grippy" as well as lasting a decently long time.

And when I say "grippy", I mean it...I kinda have a reputation of riding like a madman whenever curves are available...The Michelins have a little more tread up the sides than the Continentals, therefore you can lean a bit more without lowsiding into the side of a mountain (ask my buddy Tim...).

what is the aspect ratio of buddy tires?

the only measurement I can find is 3.50 x 10

buddy 50 and 125 have the same rims/tires from the factory?

Thesize given for maxxis is in metric 100 / 90 x 10. Is this the same as 3.50 x 10 . this was in scooterworks add on top of forum page.

tire sizes

Post by ncsteve »

If I remember my automobile sizing correctly, a 100/90 tire should be about 4 inches wide, and a 90/90 tire should be about 3.6 inches wide (90/24.5=3.6). The number after the slash refers to the aspect ratio. So a 100/90 tire would be about 4 inches wide and about 3.6 inches tall from rim to ground (4 X .9 = 3.6).
Somebody should check both my memory and the application of this formula to scooter tires!
