ACE hardware Scooter Stripes

Post by Sach »

Needs some finishing, but here was my solution to the PO's scratches without painting! (including the scratch I put on it, ahem.)

The scratches were throwing me, so I was compelled to do something.

ACE hardware carries the tape for 6 bucks.

I am going to accent it up with red now. I think it will look sharp when done.

Is this the patterned duct tape? If so, I have several rolls of several patterns. It looks like it has potential.

Yes. It is the dragon one. The black design is little dragons. I enlarged a spot, so you can see. It got a bit blurry. A good inspection will reveal the tape is stacked and I just matched up the repeating pattern. I am sure if you have a more geometric type pattern(Argyle, etc) then it would be easier to match up the tape.

I am thinking I can clean up the white line that you can see on the edge of tape by touching it with a marker or some dark pastels/charcoal of mine.

The good thing about a pattern like this is that is covers imperfections like a bit of waviness of the cowl where dropped.

All in all, it takes about 10 min with the cowls off to do the whole thing. If you don't stack the tape (use one strip) then I would imagine 5 min.

If I can get all he red accents painted this weekend, I will post it.

That really looks good on a black scooter.
