MB FARKLEFEST CONTEST! PRIZES!

Post by ericalm »

Image

Decorate your scooter for the holidays and you could win!
The MB community is full of creative, enthusiastic and slightly nutty people. Put it on display! FARKLE IT.

Here's how it works:
Decorate your scooter according to the rules (below).
Take a pic and/or video.
Post it in this thread.
A panel of judges will pick their favorites.
Winners get cool stuff.

The Rules:
  1. You must have been a Modern Buddy member as of 12:00am November 20, 2015.
  2. The scooter doesn't have to be a Genuine but it must belong to you or someone residing at your address.
  3. The photo or video must be original, your decorations on the qualifying scooter. Anyone who snags an image off the Internet and submits it will be disqualified, tarred and feathered, and publicly outed.
  4. We will accept photos from previous holiday seasons, but they must meet all other criteria in the rules.
  5. This is a secular, nondenominational contest. The theme of your decorations doesn't have to be specific to the traditional holidays.
  6. Any lights, audio or other electronic decorations and accoutrements must be powered by either the scooter or portable (battery, wind, solar) power.
  7. We reserve the right to amend these rules and conditions at any time.
  8. Contest ends Jan. 1, 2016 at 12:00PM Pacific time. That's your last chance to get a photo posted!
Prizes!

Grand prize is a $100 credit for a custom scooter seat cover from Cheeky Seats!
Cheeky Seats has covers for many models of scooter. If yours isn't among them, we might be able to make it happen. Their work is top-notch, high quality, just plain beautiful.

AND: Runners up will receive Gen-U-Bin Buddy glove bin organizers. These are not the same as those on the linked site, but the original, vintage models. That's right, old-school bins like they don't make anymore!

Furthermore: Some winners may receive ultra-rare long out of production MB patches! I found a secret stash buried out in the desert along with some other MB swag.

The Judges
Suzy from Cheeky Seats!
Me
A selection of ScooterFile.com editors and contributors!

FINE PRINT:
Questions? Ask below. But let's not overcomplicate this. It's supposed to be fun.
Also, That's my scooter in the image above. I wouldn't criticize someone else's until it's time to judge.

Last time I decorated a bike was 2008. went a little Griswold with the twinkle lights. See if you can find my Elite 80 in this video:

At what point does a hobby become an addiction? I'm uncertain, but after the twelfth scooter, it sorta feels like the latter...

Seriously...I've lost count...

Seven mopeds ...that's still manageable...

From the parade two years ago. NOT an entry; just making some more pics for interest here. I will see if I can find one from this year.

Well, I never did manage to get the fancy outdoor picture I was hoping for with my garland-covered Buddy (when I decorated it, of course it rained that afternoon and for a few days afterwards, and then I had to de-garlandify it in order to go to work!), but here it is, in all its holiday glory, in the garage! Better than nothing, right? It's a shame you can't see all the garland wrapped around the crash bars and trunk rack...

Here's Ms Gilly in her Christmas finery! I was hoping to be able to include snow in her picture but not with our temps in the 60's!!

Does the frog have any particular significance?

No significance, to the frog, Eric. It was just the biggest stuffed animal I could find. It did get a lot of attention during the parade, though.

Suzy has taken my ideas and run with them. She has pulled it all together and is creating something I think will be really special. Can't wait till it's done and I can show you all. Have you other winners got your "swag" yet? Will you post pictures?

ImageImage Finally after a week of lousy weather I was able to get Ms Gilly out of her winter slumber and outside to try on her new seat cover. I am soooo pleased. I think Suzy did a fantastic job! I can't wait for it to be warm enough to really ride around and show it off! Thank you, Eric, for holding the contest and thank you, Suzy, for donating this wonderful prize! I love it!

We are thrilled that Ms Gilly's new cover is a hit, and thank you Eric for all you do on Modern Buddy!

I do want to say that Rafa did some beautiful work on this project, he doesn't get the glory he really deserves because people talk to me all the time, but Rafa and I are a team and he has amazing skills.

And Dage'sVew also worked hard on concept and clear decisions that helped bring the project together.

A group effort across the board! A Farklefest!
