Off Season Mods

Post by Johnny O »

Although we're seeing some nice temps this week, I'm leaving Stella in the garage until April at a minimum. Until then I want to start getting ready for some more mods. That got me thinking.....What mods are you all planning on getting done before Spring riding season starts?

Here's my short list:
-Polini 165 cylinder kit
-Front and Rear performance shocks
-Get those damn tubeless tires mounted and installed
-re-jet / tune for the 165 kit

Pipedream:
-Custom extended range fuel tank that I plan to weld up complete with custom fuel level gauge mod. (Not sure how I want to do this yet, but definitely on the list).

So what are you all planning?

What are the choices for shocks?
Will any PX ones fit a 4T?

I'm going to have to play with mounting for the BITUBO Sport shocks:

For me the biggest factor is getting some adjustability for when I have my wife riding with me. Spring pre-load should help a lot. The upper mount in the rear will be fun but I'm not afraid to get it working. I'm sure someone here has played around with it I just haven't seen it yet.

wash, wax, keep the battery charged and work out a better luggage system for camping than the cruiser bag pictured in my avatar...

...seems it pushes me to far forward and with my long legs makes handlebar/brake/knee use....'interesting'

A very small mod, but I noticed that 1) my neutral indicator wire kept falling off the gear controller thing, and 2) I was losing quite a few of those stupid rubber boots that cover it.

So, I replaced the wire end with something a bit stronger. The OEM connector didn't want to stay tight, no matter how often I pinched it shut.

No problems yet :)

Here's my list.

Get and install TASSO sliding timer bracket, upjet the carb, maybe spring for the TASSO 22mm carb. I also need ot get a 2T hub so I can finally paint my hubs to match the body. Oh yeah, I have a set of FIAMM airhorns mounted that need a compressor.

My Stella already has a Tasso CDI, ram air filter, and mild rejetting.

Well, I'm already calling it riding season. Hope it's not to late For my list...

Done:
-I just replaced my air filter with a p200 one
-Goofed w jets again (Currently 38/120 idle and 160/be3/103 main)
-installed a clutch w/ different gearing
-new woodruff key, castle nut, push plate & brass
-replaced clear signal lenses w/ Amber ones

Still to do:
-acquire new agm battery (i enjoy kicking though, makes me feel good about my jetting)
-replace cracked tail light lens
-I think I want to cut the chrome ends off my somewhat gaudy sip road sport pipe and paint it black (does anyone know if that will effect sound or performance?)
-I have an idea in mind for a rear rack that will put my welding and woodworking skills to the test
-need to replace horn cast and headset cover (have parts and paint already)
