Black Cat 50 questions

Post by Bob Hannah »

Does anyone know how many of the Black Cat 50cc Genuine made?

I have one with a manufacture date of 07/2006. Does that mean it was a 2006 model or a 2007?

Anyone know the value of these units?

Thanks Bob

not sure how many were made, but look on your title and should state the year it is, many 2017 scooters will be marked with a manufacture date of 2016, its the title that matters.

From what I understand, the Black Cat series of scooters were only made in 2006 as a "premium" version of the Rattler 50. They aren't collectible in any real sense of the word and would probably be priced out roughly equivalent to a 2007 or 2008 Roughhouse. If you wanted to sell it in perfect condition, I would doubt you could get any more than $800 for it, if you were lucky, probably less if there are normal wear and tear and reasonable miles.

Thanks for the info. I am going to call Genuine in Chicago on Monday and see if I can get an answer out of them on the number of units sold as BlackCats.

If you check out your VIN, the 10th number in denotes the year of the scooter.

If anything, I've seen the Blackcats being valued less than their normal Roughhouse sisters.

Bob Hannah,
You have my curiosity peaked. Why the interest in how many Black Cats were made and the potential value? Are you trying to sell your existing bike or wondering if you should hang out to it as a potential collectors item? Or something totally different?
