Can you help me a full acid battery?

Post by mike932 »

I have a Buddy 170i and I want a battery that is full liquid (wet acid) instead of AGM. I can't find one.

Sears used to sell those old types, but I'm not sure if they still do.

Why in the world would you want one of those? They leak, need to be topped-off with distilled water occasionally, won't hold a charge as well as an AGM, They don't put out as much cranking amps, don't perform as well in temperature extremes, they have a shorter life span, on and on...

It might be your particular battery that is the issue and not the fact that it's an AGM. I've been running an AGM in my scoot for over a year without starting issues, and my engine is modified with higher compression as one of the mods.

I'm with Babblefish. No reason to intentionally seek out a wet acid battery for your scoot. I use the YTX10S or equivalent. It is a 10A AGM battery and gives good service in the Buddy.

I presume the suppliers know the spec of their batteries. If they say 9, so be it. What I am sure of is that the battery fits the Buddy battery case and has performed well for me.
