Speedometer Cable Question
Hey all! It finally happened - I busted my speedometer cable. Almost 13,000 miles before it went.
I'm having some trouble sourcing a new inner cable (though I'm thinking of just replacing the whole shebang, though I know it's a PITA). My local dealer closed. I've contacted Scooterworks Chicago, who said they'd get back to me, but must have gotten lost somewhere along the way. Google searches have failed me (as have scooterwest, scooterworks, and ebay).
I COULD order one for a Star from the UK, buuuut I'd rather have it sooner rather than next month.
Suggestions? Can I use one from a PX150/200?
Thanks

As my cable just broke after 13000m, I am wondering the same thing. I'm replacing it today with an LML one, but how long will that last? I'd rather use a Vespa one.

I got mine at my local dealer, Philly Scooters. Where are you located?

Re: Speedometer Cable Question
Just call your closest Genuine dealer. Genuine parts is not really structured to work thru Scooterworks or by direct telephone sales.Yalzin wrote:Hey all! It finally happened - I busted my speedometer cable. Almost 13,000 miles before it went. I'm having some trouble sourcing a new inner cable.
(though ScooterWest is a Genuine dealer and a direct call to them ought to work for you)

Might as well replace that plastic gear too inside the hub while you're at it.

Yes,the one with the threaded cap.Neurotic-Hapi-Snak wrote:There are two different PX speedo cables, a clip one and a threaded cap one. For some closure, I ended up buying https://www.scooterworks.com/Inner-Spee ... P2476.aspx
Works perfectly.
