Tomorrow... '07 Buddy 125! (+ maint updates)

Post by ChuckyD »

Hi, from Washington's Olympic Peninsula!
Man, I'm excited. Haven't had a motorbike in 3 years... and this will be my first scooter!
The Forum looks great. I look forward to learning & contributing.
Chuck

Thanks, all!

Maintenance Updates
. Changed oil/filter, & gear oil
. Replaced drive belt
. Bled/cleaned front brake, lubed caliper pins, new fluid
. Adjusted valves (they were tight); love that 0.08mm!
. Tore into the carb (one jet was a smidge clogged; some white residue on the rubber diaphragm)

I can't believe how she purrs, now! Much smoother throttle response, especially at the low end.

Next: fuel filter (are there 2? i see a standard one on the left, and possibly a little white one on the right) and a cost-effective windshield.
Happy! Chuck

Welcome!

The 125 is super fun and really reliable if you do regular maintenance!

Welcome aboard!
Ride the scoot' and it will take care of you and itself. Since it's carbureted, it must not be stored with old fuel without fuel conditioner for too long. How long too long is depends upon your area. In a temperate rain forest, humidity will rust some parts. However, the materials and plating are pretty good on Buddies.
I'll be in Shelton at the "The Ridge" the first week of August and look forward to some warm and dry weather... hopefully!

Oh you're going to have a blast! Once my appt shackles are off Thursday, the Peninsula is where I plan on spending a lot of my summer scootin' around. And depending on where you are out there, it may be temperate enough not to have to store it too much of the year....

I ride year round here. Great weather. Swoopy roads. Low traffic.

Welcome, I'm just down the road a little from you in Olympia. There was once a scooter group called South Sound Slow Riders, but it seems to have faded away. Let me know if ever you're headed this way.

Great stuff. I miss living up there man. I once purchased a really shitty 50cc in Sequim and rode it back to Port Townsend. Now that was exciting!
