Resetting the ECU question

Post by New2Scoots »

I searched online & found out how to reset the ICU on a Buddy 170i (not in the manual) but have one question about step 3. How far to the right does the key go? I'm guessing one click but there are 3 positions; Lock, Push, Off. Here's what I found:

1) Turn the key all the way to the left so engine/ignition is off
2) Pull the throttle back as far as it will go and hold it there
3) Turn the key back to the right but don't start the engine ?
4) Wait ten whole seconds
5) Release the throttle
6) Turn key to the left again
7) Start bike up

Also I'm assuming this should be done with the engine warm, or does that matter? Mine runs fine but for future reference I may need this sometime.

You should not start the ignition, but you do have to turn the scooter on.

Turn the scooter off, pull the throttle all the way, turn the key to the on position.

The check engine light will illuminate and you may hear a whir from the fuel system.

Wait five seconds, let go of the throttle and turn the key to the off position.

I believe you can also reset the ECU by unplugging the battery.

Thanks. I couldn't wrap my head around doing this without starting it but I was thinking car instead of scooter. Forgot about the start button.
