Buddy Kick: one year on

Post by PhillyKick »

I figured I'd write this up to recap the first year of me owning my Kick. I bought her on... I don't exactly remember the day I signed the paperwork (probably August sixth, immediately after passing my M permit test), but August 10th is the day I brought Lola home for the first time.

Delivery Mileage: 1.7 Miles

Current Mileage: 2231 miles

Highest MPG 86 and change (trip to my sisters house, way outside the city)

Lowest MPG 53 (lots of slow city traffic, cold depths of winter)

Times downed: 1 (roommate was driving it, on her birthday no less, and someone blew a stop sign. Panic braking+wet cold gravel = smooshed her foot, scraped the front shield and front fender. Barely noticeable, no medical attention required)

Longest trip: 44 miles one way, nonstop, on roads slightly faster than I could cruise (luckily my sister as now moved to approximately the halfway point in that journey, so it's a decent cruise though Valley Forge national Historical Park and I'm basically there)

Times back to the shop: 3? One for the 500 mile tune-up, one for the 2000-ish tune up, and once because of the intermittent hard start issue chronicled in this thread

Times featured on Genuine's Social Media platforms: 4, maybe five (just take a decent pic and tag 'em, they'll get to you eventually)

Aside from that, it's been all sunshine and roses. I get a bit of clutch shudder on gentle starts (usually following a slow car in traffic), but a slightly more aggressive start solves that. My bungee cord broke through the webbing on my milk crate the other day, so I'll be looking for a better storage solution

I know there's only 5 or 6 of these things on the forum, but if anyone has any questions, let me know. Additionally, if anyone has purchased the NCY sport exhaust, please let me know how you like it.
Always ready to ride in the Philly area, hit me up.

Great update!
I don't remember if you've ever posted this, but what was the highest speed you've ever achieved on the Kick?
Also, what would you consider the highest comfortable cruising speed?
I'm glad that neither rider nor scoot was seriously damaged in the drop.
I wish you many more happy and safe miles!

68 miles?! That's amazing! I got up to 65 on the speedo, but my GPS read 60. I assume that 68 is taking into account that 5 mph that seems to be always off on scooter speedometers?
I think 45/50 mph is what I find to be the perfect cruising speed as well.
I ride my Buddy Kick so much that I've become rusty with my Harley. With the motorcycle, I have to plan where I want to go and think about all the things I'm going to need to take into account on the road.
The Buddy Kick is so much easier in terms of logistics like parking, routes etc.
At least, that is my experience.
I wish Genuine would try and promote the Kick more.
I also wish there were more accessories for it like there are for the PGO J-Bubu.
